Kyle does most of the cooking in our house.  We can both cook, but I find it to be a chore, and he enjoys it.  With me back at work, we need to plan out our meals in advance.

Luckily, The Everygirl has compiled some great meals that you can meal prep on Sunday.  I particularly liked Pinch of Yum’s Spicy Chicken and Sweet Potato and 40 Aprons Greek Chicken Bowls.

To be able to carry the leftovers to work for lunch, I bought a few of these glass bento-box style containers and one of these tiffin-style stackable containers.   We’ll see which one I like better.

    Meal prep was best described by a friend who said “eating well takes time and lots of Tupperware.” It’s a worthwhile investment that avoids the 2pm candy jar raiding.

    Overnight oatmeal with chia seeds and non-dairy milk is my favorite breakfast on the go. I stir in almond butter and dried fruit before eating.

    Loved the sunscreen article — particularly because it supports my overall view. 😉

    I highly recommend these Rubbermaid Brilliance containers for packing lunches — expensive, but they’re spill-proof, durable, and stackable; the lids lock on; they’re mostly clear, so it’s easy to see the interior contents; available in several useful sizes; and they can go between the freezer, microwave, and dishwasher.

    Sunscreen article was great but leaves me with questions…mainly about aging, wrinkling and the age spots I recently had lasered off. ????

      I don’t think skin health and skin beauty are necessarily related. In that, your skin can have discoloration and wrinkles (I certainly do, damn you, years of outdoor sports!) but it can be perfectly healthy in its function.

      I have an Asian skin tone and live in a tropical climate. My derm recommends wearing facial sunblock but mostly for aesthetic purposes (as I have worsening discoloration), but he certainly did not tell me to never get sunlight.

      I think the point the researchers were trying to make was that for health (not exactly looks), there is no need to avoid the sun like the plague the way we’ve been taught.

    On that meal planning note – Does anyone use a particular meal planner app that imports ingredients from recipes you download from any website into a grocery list that’s shareable with your partner that you’d recommend?

    Re: Asking co-worked about salaries. Pretty surprised by the way the author responded. A contractor vs. a FTE could have a completely different salary structure at a company (factoring in benefits, etc). I also think that the only way for us to move away from the stigma around talking about salaries is to actually talk about them.

    If the original poster has trusting relationships with colleagues who are either mentors or peers, why not open the conversation with “I’m likely making a transition to FTE, and I’m wondering if you’d be comfortable sharing your salary or salary range with me.” It’s also a great chance to get advice about if/how colleagues approached negotiations (who was best to talk to, how far the company budged on the final number, any additional perks to push for,etc). Yes, this conversation can be scary, and sometimes you learn something you don’t like. But it’s important data to have as you advocate for yourself in the workplace.

      I was torn about the answer. I was lucky that every place I worked, salaries were public. But for people who work in the private sector, how do you know if you’re being underpaid? I think talking to a trusted coworker is more than fine. Talking to everyone you know at the company, not a great strategic move.

    Being active and outside with moderate sun exposure is something I certainly agree is crucial for mental and physical health. However I want to emphasize that with or without sunscreen you should always visit a derm to develop a baseline of your skin health. Even for those of us who had healthy levels of sun growing up, there can be unexpected factors that increase risk. I’m 33 and will spend the rest of my life doing a yearly check for melanoma simply because of genetics.
