What is a “party blouse?” It’s a blouse in a fun fabric or cool print that can be worn to work or to a holiday party. Essentially, you lose the blazer/cardigan, add some statement jewelry, smear on more eyeliner and a little lipstick, and voila! Party blouse becomes party outfit.

I believe these are what we used to call “going out tops”
Most of my old going out tops aren’t work appropriate. But that is a throwback.
That makes me think of this article from the Cut a few years back,
“Khaleesi Is the Queen of Going-Out Tops.” Highly recommend for a quick laugh!
A excerpt caption for a photo of Khaleesi in a super not work appropriate going out top look:
“Khaleesi at her first-ever office holiday party. For her company’s holiday party, Khaleesi adapted a going-out top to serve as “day-to-night” attire. With this festive gold detailing, it’s like Khaleesi herself is an ornament on a tree — but she has a blazer she can wear over it to keep things “office-appropriate.”

I haven’t heard “going out tops” in a long time! These are all lovely and several notches above the ubiquitous camis and halters that dominated my “going out” wardrobe in college. Ah, misguided youth.
