All I want when fall comes is to eat soups. Warm, comforting soups. To let them simmer in my crockpot all day and come home to a hot bowl and crusty bread at night.
But I made the mistake of falling in love with a man who won’t eat soup (or beans or mushrooms or pickles or casseroles…). And it is seriously a problem.
So please, someone eat this Tuscan Sausage and Potato Soup for me. And this Sweet Potato and Carrot soup that you can make in my beloved Instant Pot. And all the other soups on my Pinterest board…

My husband doesn’t like soup either. I don’t understand. I sometimes make it anyway, and he’ll holds his nose and eat it but there’s always a lot of grumbling involved. I do think that over the past 7 years, I’ve worn him down a bit and now there are a few he’ll eat, but only if the right conditions are met…

I have a female colleague at a similar career level and we have a very close bond. Working in IT security and infrastructure already make us odd ducks among our peers, it’s not an industry where there are few women at the top, there are just few women period. So we embrace it. Our male colleagues joke about it, we joke about it and then we kick butt. As you said, a rising tide lifts all boats. Before we worked together we pushed through it alone, but together we are stronger and the work feels easier, our loads lighter.
In IT Security as well, and agreed, there aren’t as many of us as you’d like. I’ve been lucky that I’ve had supportive male and female mentors, but now there’s a small group of women here who are about the same level in different areas of IT. We meet up around once a month and chat about everything. The networking (heh) is priceless; it really helps having a POC in different areas. If they can’t help, they’ll usually know who can!
Why not just freeze the extra soup for yourself? Easy, healthy leftovers and great for work.
My father won’t eat soup either, and Mom loves it, so sometimes she’ll thicken it into “gravy,” put it onto piecrusts and call it potpie. That, he’ll eat.

Explain to me what JCrew Mercantile on Amazon is. I thought it was maybe one step “below”…prob.not the correct term, than JCrew Factory…I think I went into a store like this in Indianapolis and it was very similar to a factory store but the prices look more like a regular JCrew store. Thanks.

My fiance doesn’t like soup either and I don’t get it! Not only is it delicious, it’s generally easy to make both budget and diet-friendly. However, he also can’t cook, so I can see us evolving into a “this is what made, deal with it” relationship in the future lol…
