Summer-to-Fall Dresses, Under-$100

Aug 22, 2018

I love a good treasure hunt, finding a piece of clothing or an accessory for a good price.  Maybe it’s on sale, maybe its versatility makes it a bargain at any price, maybe its something from Zara or H&M that I will wear til the seams fall out.  And this season, I’m on the hunt for affordable dresses.

ASOS Design Tie-Front Dress ($60)

This dress is workplace perfection — the pale grey, the conservative hemline, the unique details.  Wear it in any month of the year, but pair it with dark grey pumps and a burgundy bag for fall.

NY Collection A-Line Dress ($35)

Plus-size or plus-petite?  I thought this Macy’s dress was just phenomenal.  It’s absurdly flattering.  And depending on the accessories and shoes, you could wear this to work, dinner, maybe even a wedding.

London Times Ponte Floral Dress ($40)

How incredible is this moody floral dress?  I adore the teal and pink together.  In fact, I like it so much that I bought it in an 8 (it’s only available in 8-14), and intend to have it tailored.  At that price, it can be done.

Cos Draped-Neck Jersey Dress ($99)

Love the neckline.  So much drama.  For when you need something to wear that looks like a piece of art.

Adrianna Papell Plus Popover Sheath ($50)

This dress is a great, bright color.  It also has an interesting shape.  You could wear it to work with subdued accessories, or jazz it up with a big earring and wear it out on the town.

Donna Morgan Cap Sleeve Sheath ($40)

Summer or fall, this dress just works. Wear it in the summer with a simple heel and a white blazer.  In the fall, try it with navy, burgundy or eggplant and a darker heel.

Marina Tie-Back Dress ($50)

This navy sheath brings a little something extra with it’s chiffon bow in the back.  But in the front, it’s all business, with a classic shape and versatile color.  It just gives you a bit more fun than a basic.

Closet Ruched Sleeve Pencil ($76)

This black dress is sophisticated, classic, and affordable.  Wear it in any season.  The detailing on the sleeves is adorable, but lays flat so you can wear it under a jacket if need be.

I love that you always include plus-size options! I will say, though, I had that exact NY Collection dress and the quality is just awful. The cut is great, but the jersey is absurdly thin, which is the opposite of what many curvy ladies need. I’m pregnant now (an entirely different dressing challenge) but I always found that Adrianna Papell day/work dresses as well as Eliza J dresses (both at Nordstrom ) worked great for me. For whatever it’s worth 🙂

Love that floral ponte dress – I just bought it. Got to love a good print to camouflage those lumps and bumps. 🙂

Great finds! Love the gray tie dress and the fushia sheath and the navy with the back tie. And the black with the puff sleeves. This is an awesome collection!

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Mondays: March 18, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for […]
