Item of the Week: A Classic Slingback

Jul 9, 2018

We all love the look of classic designer pieces from the big European fashion houses.  But not many of us can afford them on a working woman’s salary.  Today’s item of the week gives you the classic look without the sticker shock.

The Chanel cap-toe slingbacks are a classic, but one that is way out of my price range (even gently used).  For a while, it seemed that every blogger owned the Ivanka Trump brand knock-off, but since we’re on an IT prohibition around here, I don’t.  But finally, after months of searching I found a chic, and extremely affordable replacement.

Enter the Franco Sarto Imogen Sandals.  Coming in at a very affordable $59, these sandals give you the neutral look of a Chanel classic without the price.  They also come in block heel pump, for those of you who don’t or can’t wear a slingback.

Prefer a flat?  Try this Michael Kors option, or these Taryn Rose flats (which I’m told are designed by a podiatrist to be extraordinarily comfortable).

Please say you’re doing a Nordstrom sale post later this week!?

    Hi,

I’ve seen these for years but never known the best way to style them. I might pick up the Franco Sarto pair…I love that brand. Any tips?

    Thanks!

The fact that they’re almond-, not pointed-toe made my poor wide feet sing. Fashion tends not to be kind to the rectangle footed. Thank you!

    Lovely find.

@Caitline, love the “rectangular footed” comment. I can totally relate. I need almond toes to make a comeback, stat!

    IT probation? Why?

Since the election, her brand has become extremely polarizing. Some readers didn’t want to financially contribute to the family holdings, others were concerned that wearing her clothing while working on Capitol Hill could look like a political statement. There was no good reason to continue promoting the brand, and stopping kept posts that featured her pieces from becoming unnecessarily political.

Thank you so much for this post! I’ve been searching for a dupe of the shoes that wasn’t IV. Sam Edelman had a lovely pair but have been sold out for months. FYI there is a 20% coupon code that I found on Retailmenot…YAYDAYS.
