Commute: No. 14

“The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity.” – Amelia Earhart

#MentorHer. Sheryl Sandberg is encouraging men to step up and mentor women in the wake of #metoo.  This is especially important at a time when some men are increasingly wary of being alone with women in the workplace.

Getting Carded. Need a Valentine’s Day Card that’s better than Hallmark?  Chez Gagne’s “Relationship Timeline” card is a lot of fun.  Celebrating Galentines?  She also makes a timeline for your BFF.

Cohabitating. Man Repeller discusses the three common mistakes people make when deciding to move in together.  Kyle and I were definitely guilty of number one.

Shoe Sale. Sam Edelman is having an amazing sale.  I finally splurged on these rose velvet flats and these leopard booties (because why not?).

9-to-5-ish. ‘Ask a Boss’ takes on a common question, “Does my boss expect me to work too much?

Aloft. LOFT has wonderful spring transition pieces.  These marigold tie waist pants (also in black), this uber-feminine striped sweater, and this medallion print tunic caught my eye.  Also, did you see they now have a plus-size line?

Unseemly. Why food delivery services like Seamless are a rip off, for you and the restaurants.

Having a Ball.  If I only I had an event to wear this perfectly ombre Haltson ballgown to; it’s a total stunner.  So is this lace-applique Monique cocktail dress.

Company Ink. Can you still date a co-worker post #metoo?  The WSJ covers why that’s a complicated question.

Fresh Perspective. Banana Republic’s spring styles are rolling in.  This ruffle collar blouse and this red boucle coat are good in any season.

Be Present. The Everygirl explains “executive presence” and why it can make or break your chances of getting promoted.

New York Fashion Week is right around the corner.  A lot of bloggers go, but I prefer not to.  It’s very expensive and it doesn’t relate much to the kind of fashion I write about.  That being said, it can be fun to see what pretty things are new for the next season.

Do you ladies follow NYFW?  Do you care what designers claim is hot for fall?  Leave your thoughts in the comments.

I love following NYFW- but when I say following, I mean the collections, not what bloggers wore or ate while in New York- particularly in the era of sponsored vacays it only sets unrealistic aspirations for followers. Runway shows for me are like an art exhibit, so am excited for NYFW!

Saw It On Social: Rooted

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
