This photo from @thisisglamorous just proves that the British are better at Christmas than we are. My family was in London before Easter, and I was blown away by their full-throated embrace for the holiday. Maybe next year I need to spend some time in London in December.

Thank you so much for posting the crisis hotline number. This is a very hard time of year for so many people, and in the slew of gift guides and advertisements, I think the opportunity for direct connection and help is often lacking. I so appreciate the thought.
I think it’s option A mixed with option C (which is that people are more concerned with losing a seat in the House or Senate than holding harassers and pedophiles accountable).

I also finally got the Emerson Fry leopard coat and it is sooooo perfect!
We were in London the week before Thanksgiving and Christmas was already in full swing. Since they don’t celebrate turkey day the season is much longer and more legitimately starts after Halloween and everyone seemed fine with it. Everything, even the pubs, were festive!
I think in general, Europe as a whole does Christmas better! We just got back from an 8-day trip to Germany and even before Dec. 1 the pubs and street markets were bursting with Christmas cheer (and boozy holiday drinks, yessss). I think the decor is more refined too: lots of holly berries and piney-smelling greenery (nothing cheap or plastic). Christmas in London is 100% on my bucket list.
I highly recommend London at Christmas. My mom, sister, and I decided to skip our regular Christmas plans last year after the death of my dad. We had also decided to travel more, in honor of him (traveling and reading were his favorite things and he saw them as essential to understanding other people’s perspectives and the human experience, sorry for the tangent). Anyway, we decided that we’d spend Christmas in London, where none of us had ever visited before, and it was incredible. We did Christmas service at Westminster Abbey, an evening double decker bus tour of all the best Christmas lights in London, hit up the tacky but really fun Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, had a Christmas themed tea at the Dorchester, went to the Christmas holiday spectacular at the Royal Albert Hall, and saw Kensington Palace all the decked out for the holiday. You must go.
