Style Translator: Pale Fall Neutrals

Oct 24, 2017

Can you wear white after Labor Day?  Don’t be silly, of course, you can.  And, as Anh at 9t05Chic shows us, you can wear it to work and look amazing.

Sweater A&F Shaker Sweater ($69) // Skirt Iris & Ink Jacquard Pencil ($165) // Coat H&M Wool Blend Coat ($129) // Earrings BR Pearl Studs ($35) // Purse A New Day Burgundy Bag ($39) // Shoes Old Navy Faux-Patent d’Orsay ($34)

A mix of soft neutrals is always feminine and chic.  I thought about going with this chunky, beige sweater to match the skirt, but the pink just felt right.  It’s a refined, muted pink that isn’t too treacly.  I also liked this refined camel sweater from H&M.  Plus-size?  This Land’s End ivory sweater is perfect, and comes in petites and misses as well.

The skirt was an easy find.  I feel like Iris & Ink always has a white/ivory pencil on offer.  If you’re looking for something under-$75, this Preston & York is the place to start.  You can hem it if midi isn’t your length.

I added a camel coat because it felt right.  (I’ve had my eye on this Hobbs London coat.)  This H&M coat is an affordable option if you’re looking to supplement and already have a warm wool coat.

For the accessories, I kept it classic.  I own these pearl earrings and they look great for their $35 price tag.  The shoes were the nicest looking nude pumps I could find.  It’s just the wrong season to be looking.  If you think nude heels are not for fall, try these beige, suede Charles David booties instead.

The bag is just perfection.  I spotted it in Target last week and was blown away by it.  The burgundy felt like the perfect complement to the neutral look.  If you want an “investment” bag, try this Michael Kors bag.

For your nails, I’d match the bag.  OPI deep burgundy in infinite shine all the way.  For the hair, I would wear it up.  I think that looks best with turtlenecks.  Plus, you don’t have to worry about static that way.  I usually go for a simple chignon.

Have you or any of your followers signed up for the Sephora monthly box and how has that been? I know last time I checked there was a wait list but that was months ago.

I’ve used Sephora play before and loved it! I didn’t want to keep paying $10 a month (easy thing to cut from my budget), but it’s definitely fun!!

I did. They send me the wrong foundation shade every time. I canceled it after three uses.

I’m assuming this outfit needs to be worn with the nude fishnet tights or no tights. For those of us that can’t pull off nude fishnet tights, this is a hard look to pull off at this time of year (black tights).

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
