I spotted this outfit on Pinterest and was instantly obsessed. The relaxed ‘cool girl’ vibe, the mix of soft neutrals, amazing. With a wool coat and a cozy scarf, it’s a lighter, airier take on fall basics. Let’s recreate it, shall we?
The Coat. Blush is still the hottest color around, and even after the trend fades, it’ll be a chic neutral. This Dorothy Perkins coat is a mid-price indulgence. For something more contemporary, DP also has this cool belted coat that looks much more expensive than its price tag. Love the blush coat enough to make it your signature look? Club Monaco’s Daylina Coat and Ted Baker’s wrap coat are worth a look.
The Sunglasses. Ray-ban aviators, my sunglasses of choice. The matte gold are my go-to.
The Scarf. Oversize scarves are my fall must-own. I like them so big it looks like they’re trying to swallow my head. This Nordstrom Tissue Scarf isn’t quite that big, but it’s lighter weight allows you to wear it without overheating. If you’re looking for a giant scarf, try this Bedford scarf from Club Monaco.
The Sweater. Banana Republic has the best basic sweaters this season. Mine haven’t arrived yet, so I’m awaiting a final verdict on quality, but for basics, the color selection cannot be beat. Their Silk Cashmere sweater comes in 14 incredible colors.
The Bag. The black bag in the photo was clearly meant to pair with her black denim, but for me, the contrast is too harsh. So I subbed in this snake-embossed Coach bag. It’s a versatile piece for any season. For those who hate snake print, you have two options: animal print or cognac.
Unfortunately, I bought a couple of the BR silk cashmere sweaters recently, and they (bizarrely, given the material) shed so much!
Interesting, Abra, have you found that to be an issue? I saw that you posted about this sweater twice and got really excited about it, since you don’t beat around the bush regarding quality.
I didn’t pay for express shipping, so I’ll let you know when it finally arrives.
Any tips & tricks on how to style blanket scarves?
THANK YOU so much for this find. I’ve been trying to find a silk/cashmere sweater (preferably with a V neck) for a couple years as my favorite one from Bloomingdale’s from 10 years ago is falling apart from constant wear. It’s my favorite blend and VERY hard to find. I snapped these up in my size, but wish they had more colors available in XL. I hope the quality is good – and right now they’re doing 40% off, free 2-3 day shipping, so fingers crossed!
If anyone knows of any other good choices in a silk/cashmere blend, please share! Loving the new look – thanks for making my shopping choices so much easier!
Everlane has a whole host of cozy looking sweaters right now, including wool and cashmere. I want this one: https://www.everlane.com/products/womens-luxe-wool-v-charcoal?collection=womens-sweaters
I heartily second the Everlane suggestion for cashmere sweaters. I own two of the cashmere crew, with minimal pilling. They’ve held up great for over 2 years! Unbeatable for the price.
