The Workday Reading: September 20, 2017

***

1) Redefining Brave: Working during cancer wasn’t badass, it was stupid. (Shondaland)

2) This $68 Morgan Tote, casual enough for weekend, cool enough for work.

3) Why women’s brands should be sized more like men’s clothing. (Racked)

4) Target’s A New Day line is a dream (sizes 2-26W). I love this oversize sweater-wrap.

5) Non-obvious things you can do to make your resume stand out. (C&C)

6) Fall Floral Musts: an Old Navy shift, a poppy-print blouse, a pleated skirt.

7) Why do we allow terrible men redemption? (Jezebel)

8) Need suits? Try this Emerson burgundy pantsuit or this boucle skirt suit.

9) Please stop asking me when I’m getting married. (Everygirl)

10) This Badgley Mishcka dress is the ultimate day-to-night dress.

11) The difference between a career ‘sponsor’ and a mentor. ‘(Motto)

When Your Childhood Hero Fails You. There’s a genocide happening in Burma, and their Peace Prize-winning PM doesn’t care.

When You Need an Easy Updo. This simple chignon has real promise.

What I’m Buying. I’ve heard great things about these towels from Amazon.

I love the poppy blouse – but – what is the deal with such wide necklines? I’m only a B cup and I’d be popping out of that blouse. Yes, I know that tanks can bridge the “gap,” but it also changes the silhouette and beauty of the cut. I work on the Hill and I could NEVER wear a blouse like that for risk of scandalizing CSPAN. And it’s often a problem I run into when shopping for tops and dresses. I just returned a Boden wrap dress for the same reason (https://www.bodenusa.com/en-us/clearance/womens-dresses/day-dresses/ww213-ivo/womens-ivory-sunglasses-lara-wrap-dress). Am I missing something? I’m kind of petite but overall I don’t think I have a body that is all that different from most women in this area of my body.

What was the verdict on the towels?

The Range: Spring Blouses for Work (or Zoom)

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.

Too Many Tabs: April 19, 2024

This week, I fell mindlessly into my phone more than I think I ever have. My screen time went from 3.5 hours per day to 5 hours per day. But the increased eye strain did lead to some good finds. Just going to leave this right here.  (I really need to work on “Didn’t make […]
