  1. Susie Cambria says:

Love anklets. Have been a fan since my mom told me hers was a wedding gift (1963) from my father. They would break (and get lost on occasion) and the replacement was always 14k gold.

If I were to get one now, I’d either get 14k gold to match my wedding rings and matching earrings. But I’m a huge fan of platinum. It would be a tough decision!

When I was younger, I’d wear some sailing knot or something I picked up at the beach. Since I never change my jewelry, that is no longer an option.

  2. Hitha says:

Let me know how you like the face brush! I loved the ‘when you work alone’ article – basically, my life right now.

    • Belle says:

I wanted to add to that article, when you find yourself asking your dogs for their opinions about a post…you might work alone.

  3. Casey Jacketta says:

Do you have any great lentil recipes? I’m vegetarian and have been trying to broaden my cooking skills and what I typically can make. I know lentils are great – they are just so flavorless. What do you recommend?

  4. Ashlea says:

I love a good ankle bracelet. My mom gave me one when I was 16 and I have worn one ever since. My only request is to not wear them under stockings or tights. That is cute on no one.

    • Meg says:

My husband loves lentils (we are vegetarian, too), but I call them “bowl full of mush” because they often turn out bland and mushy. Especially when cooked in the crock pot. But I love 100 cookbooks green lentil soup with curried brown butter. Quick and super tasty.

      • Belle says:

These actually stay pretty firm, I think it’s the small size. Not mushy at all, and they have a bit of a nutty flavor.

  5. Addie says:

I just can’t get on board with crying at work. Unfortunately I cry when I’m anxious, so I came perilously close to crying in my boss’s office several times in the early months of my job, but I kept them from actually spilling over. I refuse to cry in front of people unless they are family or very close friends, I’ve just always been that way. When I broke my ankle at 9 while with my Girl Scout troop leader and her two kids, I didn’t shed a tear

    • Belle says:

I’ve cried in the bathroom once or twice, but only once in front of people. My Dad was really sick and someone I didn’t know knew him came into the office for a meeting and asked me about it. The hard part is a lot of men think women cry as some form of blackmail, the truth is it’s usually because we’re so pissed off, we can’t contain it. Men throw/punch things, women cry, I ask you, which is better?

Sloane loves the pool. She jumps from the deck into the water with a crash, never considering her own safety, only to emerge on the surface, shouting “Again!” The pool is my daughter’s happy place. But no place where I need to wear a swimsuit in public is a happy one for me.

The Mondays: July 22, 2024

The Crowdstrike/Microsoft Meltdown forced me to take a few days off this weekend. No laptop. No billable hours. So we packed Sloane up for a visit to a local llama farm, stopped by the pool, went for coffee, etc. Few things are as funny as watching a 23-month old feed carrots to a ravenous rescue […]
