I bought that Madewell dress in store the other day. I love it, but definitely recommend sizing down. Even in a smaller size, it’s still very loose fitting/looks like it does on the model. It looks cute and effortless with flat sandals or dressed up a little with a long necklace and wedge sandals.

  2. Ann says:

    Oh that quote. So perfect.

  3. Wildkitten says:

We had mice in my Senate office, and I think my cat could’ve fixed that problem in about 30 minutes if my office manager had let me bring him in on a leash.

  4. KL says:

Disappointed that you would endorse calling Condi Rice, the first member of the Bush 43 administration to approve the CIA’s use of torture, a “do-right” woman. See : https://www.theguardian.com/world/2009/apr/23/condoleezza-rice-cia-waterboarding. At best, Sec’y Rice’s tenure shows that strong, smart, powerful women in government can use their power to violate human rights just as effectively as men.

  5. Jill says:

We’ve had mice in my Senate office, too. Wanted to bring in my cat but people are allergic. 😉 my favorite black pants are NYDJ. Black knit, regular leg, look like dress pants, feel like sweat pants. And Nordstrom hemmed them perfectly.

    • Jenn S. says:

As a cat lady, I’m biased – but if I had allergies, I’d way rather deal with sniffles and itchy eyes for a day (or, you know, pop a Zyrtec) than cope with the icky risks rodents can bring!

  6. Jenn S. says:

Belle, have you used any of Lush’s bath bombs? If so, how does the Ulta one stack up? I think the price-point is similar, and Ulta products are far more accessible than Lush ones even though I adore them.

  7. L. L. says:

Condi Rice is an interesting choice for a do-right woman, given that she spearheaded the Iraq War and torture at Guantanamo. Not sure WaPo’s right on that.

  8. Sarah I says:

This is so random, but I wanted to let you know that every weekend, I miss your cocktail suggestions on Friday afternoons! Come Saturday night I’m usually craving something fun and I wish I could come here and find creative ideas. I remember you posting some Virginia-whiskey cocktail a few years back and my girlfriends and I had a BLAST making them!

    • SLS says:

I’ll second that! With summer around the corner it would be great to get Friday cocktail suggestions again!

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.

The Find: Like a McCall’s Pattern

When I was young, my Mother used to bring me along when she would go shopping for fabric. As a result, I spent a lot of time, killing time, flipping through pattern books. So when I spotted this dress, I was instantly transported to the pattern table at a Jo-Ann Fabrics.
