What I’m Forwarding. Buzzfeed’s piece on the Montana Special Election.
When I Need an Updo with Volume. I use this Unite Expanda Dust to get major lift.
What I’m Obsessed With. This $12 liquid eyeliner from Physician’s Formula.
I’m bookmarking that Buzzfeed article on the Montana special election for later. This sentence early on “In trying to nationalize these races — and framing them as macro-commentary on politics in America — we lose sight of the actual lessons they can teach us.” really captures something I’ve been feeling lately. I work in state govt. and am really fascinated by the way state and local politics can be so radically different from national politics.
There is a gubernatorial race in my state next year, and it feels like some high profile members of my state’s legislature are playing games with the budgeting process to prepare for their campaigns for Governor. It’s been frustrating because I worry about my job security, but also because it feels like many of them, from both parties, are basing policy on what happened at the national level in 2016, rather than what is best for the state.
When I hear Democrats saying they need to push farther left to win, I want to point them to Montana, and say, go dig up all the blue dog Dems who lost in ’10. They’re called Independents, and they are still out there.
Ari, are you in Minnesota? If not, the same gubernatorial chess game is happening here.
PSA: I ordered the same London Times dress from TJ Maxx last week for $35! It is nice in person, though I found it ran truer to size than most LT dresses (generally I size up).
Pray tell more about that liquid eye liner! Benefit stopped carrying my favourite, the Magic Ink eye liner – that stuff would not budge, even after a 7am to past midnight workday (I used to be a lawyer in private practice). I’m having trouble finding a replacement, urgh.
That eyeliner has the most precise brush tip you’ll ever experience, and will never ever ever ever run on you. It feels like absolutely nothing when you apply it on the lid, not even the slightest tickle, so you will never blink. You can tightline with it by dotting it between your lash bases, and it will last all day. It comes in “blackest black,” but also softer greyer and brown colors. Aaaaaand Physicians Formula is constantly on sale somewhere! It’s been my HG for probably over a decade now.
Thanks! I found it on Amazon for $8; $7 if you get an Amazon subscription to it! Am going to give it a go.
Totally in love with that bangle, but I can’t type while wearing any kind of bracelet so it’s a no-go for work. Maybe I’ll try to convince myself I’ll wear it out sometime….
Thanks! I found it on Amazon for $8; $7 if you get an Amazon subscription to it! Am going to give it a go.
PSA for all Michael Kors “Jet Set Tote” lovers: Lord & Taylor is currently having a sale on the “luggage” and black versions of the Jet Set Medium Saffiano Leather Travel Tote for a steep discount. Plus, you can get an extra 15% off with promo code “LTLOVE” and free shipping on orders over $99. I just picked up the “Luggage” tote for less than $130 (really!!).
