You’ve been posting a decent amount of clothes from Amazon, which surprises me because I wouldn’t ever think to look there! Worried about bad sizing, quality, etc. Do you have a particular way to weed out crap retailers, or do you have preferred Amazon brands that you gravitate toward? Curious to know!

    • Belle says:

First, download the Honey add on for your browser. It makes sure you get the best price on Amazon. Second, if you look at most of the inexpensive items, you’ll notice that a good number of them are sold at TJ Maxx, Kohl’s, etc. under different names. Just last week, I found an $88 top every blogger is wearing for $15. Def. the same top, not a knock-off. Also, Amazon is a good place to look for brand names you know. But I always try to order from Amazon directly or an Amazon preferred seller. And make sure they allow returns with reasonable limitations.

      • Anna says:

How do you know it’s the same if it’s under a different name?

        • Belle says:

One) They look identical. Two) The inside tag which contains brand information is identical except for the logo. I ordered an “Endless Rose” Shopbop top years ago, and then found something similar in an eBay shop. Ordered that and compared the tags, they even had the same misspellings. Did it again a few years later with a Nordstrom Rack brand jacket and a totally different one from TJ Maxx, again, the same tag.

  2. Anna says:

The link to the block heel goes to the cardigan and vice versa. Also, slightly disturbed that the makeup bag contains deodorant.

    • Belle says:

I didn’t even catch the deodorant in the photo!! Maybe sweaty lips are a thing?

    • Anna says:

Gotcha, as someone who knows a lot of people who work in art and design, I’m always super careful about buying outright knockoffs, and so many Amazon vendors remind me of those Asian online store that show super cute clothes, but when you read the reviews by people who actually bought them they look nothing like the photo and are practically doll-sized.

      • Belle says:

I get that, but more often than most people realize, they’re the same piece, made by the same manufacturer.

Seconding Rag and Bone man– just put it on in my office on shuffle.

  4. Chelsea says:

Love Mary Katherine Ham. Thanks for posting this.

  5. Monica says:

What color Realer bag did you get? It looks perfect my upcoming overseas trip but I’m torn on a color! (I live in NYC so light colors are usually a no – since they get dirty so quick!)

  6. Blu says:

Sometimes it’s hard for me to tell if the Amazon item is coming from Amazon or a dealer….

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
