I agree rain boots (like hunter) are totally unnecessary unless you live on a farm or in true countryside. I live in London where it is famous for rain, and I’ve never once seen a woman wearing them on a commute. At her parent’s country house, yes, on the train, never.
I agree on rainboots. I love the idea of them, but the execution never quite works well, and there are other footwear pieces that are better-suited that don’t restrict your ankle’s ability to function as intended.
I have a muddy backyard. where I wear some ugly Keen rain boots because I can hose them off easily and pull them on over leggings when I have to go pick up after the dogs or or take out the trash or going for a walk in the rain with my daughter. I have not successfully or happily worn these out of the my neighborhood. So while I think they do have a use, I do not consider them as part of my real wardrobe. Utilitarian, plain and simple.
