Three Ways: H&M Jacquard Midi Skirt

May 5, 2016

I ordered this midi-skirt in white jacquard from H&M ($59).  I was fairly impressive with the quality and style.  It did run a bit small in the waist.  I also like this semi-sheer organza skirt from Topshop.  And for a slimmer option, River Island wrap skirt.  Plus-size?  Alfani midi-skirt in white lace.

321 Short Sleeve Sweater ($170) // Majorica Pearl Stud Earrings ($90) // Sole Society Vaughn Clutch ($14) // Candice Kitten Heel ($118)

For work, I went with a classic, Audrey Hepburn look.  This snug short sleeve sweater is the perfect topper for the fuller skirt.  The proportions cause a figure-flattering balance.

This white Kate Spade sweater would look lovely, as would this navy Jack Wills pointelle sweater.  For accessories, I added a pair of pretty pearl earrings, a simple kitten-heel sandal, and a patterned clutch (can you believe it’s $13?!).  If you would prefer flats, try these pointy toe black slingbacks from Sam Edelman.

For the hair, I would try a sleek chignon.  I would also add a pair of retro sunglasses and some red lipstick.

Boden Essential Boatneck ($29) // Stella & Dot Rebel Pendant ($79) // Capri Leather Wedge ($90) // Street Level Slouchy Tote ($56)

For the weekend, I added this boatneck stripe tee from Boden.  It’s a good quality, well-priced essential.  The long pendant balances out the stripe, and is one of my favorite pieces.  (I probably wear the Rebel necklace four times per week.)

Another casual options is a chambray shirt.  Gap has a cute sleeveless option.  If you don’t like chambray, a crisp, blue oxford is always a sleek choice.  The red wedges add the perfect pop of color to the outfit.  For a closed-toe option, try this Nine West wedge.

For the hair, I would try a teased, bouncy ponytail.  I’d finish the look with a crisp summer perfume.

Elizabeth & James Crop Top ($79) // Kendra Scott Turquoise Earrings ($63) // Schutz Juliana Caged Sandal ($190) // Cork Box Clutch ($88)

For play, I chose a crop top because the skirt is high-waisted.  A bit of spring color never hurt anyone, so I brought in a turquoise earring and coral sandal.  The colors pair well together.  I also like this Schutz Maggie heel with tassels, in a fun berry color.

I also liked this ABS cross back crop top.  For something with sleeves, try this grey JOA crop.  If you want an evening look without the midriff-baring crop, try something like this Tibi Bibelot tank.

Finish this look with a bit of pinky coral blush and a coordinating lip color.  For the hair, I recommend a messy, twisted updo.

I like the look for work, but even for my “creative” office, those sandals read evening to me, instead of work. I’d go with something that’s more shoe than foot- like the pointy flats, a simple low pump, or even ghillie lace up flats instead

For the Boden top, would you tuck it or leave it out since the skirt is high-waisted? This is what always makes me choose dresses over skirts- I never know what to to with the end of the top!

Yep, that cork clutch will definitely serve me well during this season’s weddings. Thanks!

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

The Range: Spring Blouses for Work (or Zoom)

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.
