1)
Seventy-percent of employees have no idea if their salary is fair.  A detailed look at how complex Equal Pay Day really is. (Glassdoor; Fast Company)

2) This striped-tweed jacket from Kasper brings a pop of color to your work wardrobe.  I’m also digging their old school dot-print jacket and dress combo.

3) A fascinating study to assess whether you live in a ‘big city’ bubble, disconnected from other Americans. (PBS)

4) You know I love a snakeskin shoe, but this Summit Sorina Pump is something special.

5) The Pros and Cons of Working for Yourself. They forgot to mention, filling every role from boss to bookkeeper. (The Everygirl)

6) If you love cardigans, check out this Fiona Fringe Knit Cardi from T Tahari.  This Label + thread Pocket Cardigan has cool, modern look to it. For a great basic, try this Boden Favourite Cardigan in 12 colors.

7) How not to fight with your spouse when you get home from work. (Harvard Business Review)

8) My jewelry box needs a refresh.  I’m starting with this signature block cuff, and this turquoise and gold Pharaoh necklace.

9) What the Koreans know about skincare that we don’t.  Like my new skincare obsession, sheet masks.  (Wall Street Journals)

10) Halogen is hitting it out of the park.  This sleeveless seam detail sheath is lovely, but this cropped leather jacket is the real star of the show.

11) Portrait of the Artist as a Young Mom: Does motherhood kill creativity? (The Cut)

Wow some great ones today, talk about timely!

Re 7 – This is so important, not just the coming home thing but the respecting other peoples different recovery times and needs. I wish wish wish there was a way to teach this kind of empathy, but it seems some people can respect your need to have space, and some cannot, and take it as an insult.

Re 11 – While I’m not a writer or artist, I was nodding my agreement that some of us do not fit the mold of the modern mother. The same things that make us powerful in the workplace can hinder us in the new mothers club. I’m ruthlessly honest with my partner and my fellow mothers about how challenging I find parenthood, because basically it has become my job to tell this little human what to do 24/7, and make them conform to expectations that I have struggled with my whole life. Most other mothers appreciate this honesty, as they struggle in their own ways, but some people are afraid I’m going to run off and join the circus or something.

My skin has gotten so much better since I’ve started using (mostly) Korean skincare products. The only downside is trying to keep sheet masks around — my husband uses them even more than me!

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.

The Find: Like a McCall’s Pattern

When I was young, my Mother used to bring me along when she would go shopping for fabric. As a result, I spent a lot of time, killing time, flipping through pattern books. So when I spotted this dress, I was instantly transported to the pattern table at a Jo-Ann Fabrics.
