1) For every ‘yes’ man at work, there’s a ‘no’ woman. (The Cut)

2) Looking for casual handbags under-$75?  Check out the Phase 3 line at Nordstrom.  I especially like this faux-leather tote with a front pocket and zip closure.

3) The surprising psychology of shoppers and return policies. (The Washington Post)

4) These “love is enough” tights from Wolford are very cool.  These corsage stay-up thigh highs are also fun.

5) One woman’s story of saving a year’s worth of salary in three years while living in New York City. (Billfold.com)

6) Gilt has a wide selection of Rivka Friedman jewelry.  This cascading chalcedony layered necklace is sublime.  And I had to have these $49 rose quartz drops.

7) “My boyfriend won’t tell me how much he makes, should I insist?” (Slate)

8) Have trouble organizing your suitcase?  These eBags ultralight packing cubes look like a godsend.

9) The Lululemon founder continues his adventures in douchebaggery (why I won’t shop there, or at Kit and Ace). (Racked)

10) Maggy London is a great source for under-$150 dresses.  This navy-and-white print longsleeve dress is fun for work.  This burnout fit and flare in pink and grey is so chic.

11) The NFL is opening more hiring opportunities for women. (ESPN)

12) I am going to have dreams about this Liza Schwartz Glam Bar bracelet.  It’s unique and cool.

13) Meet the woman behind ‘Wine Folly,’ a website dedicated to the notion that drinking wine shouldn’t be a hoity-toity activity.  (Broadly)

No. 1 hits so close to home for so many reasons, and it’s slightly infuriating. And when you’re both an, “ideas person,” and the, “no,” woman things get really muddy. And why the hell am I ever the only one taking notes during meetings?!

No. 3 does not surprise; it’s a safety net thing. I feel better purchasing from a retailer from whom I have a degree of ‘security’ wen it comes to my purchases.

As far as boyfriends sharing salaries – I understand the asker’s position (I’d be curious, too!), but her boyfriend has the right to keep it to himself until it actually affects her (like if they were to move in together, for instance) in my opinion.

I hadn’t heard about Wine Folly before but it sounds like something I need in my life.

  2. Rhianna says:

    1. i hate this but it’s very much my life at work.

  3. Amanda K says:

Re: No. 8 – they *are* amazing! They work very well for the obvious organizing, but you can also stuff them to the max – they’re phenomenal compression cubes. I did 2 weeks in Japan in a (US sized) carry-on with these! Oddly enough, they stack perfectly into my US-regulation sized carry-on wheelie bag, so with 3 of the slim ones packed FULL I still have 1/2 my suitcase for shoes, toilettries, etc. Worth every penny!

  4. Bernie says:

I am a lawyer and I think “no” is attached to our names, right after “esq.” Thanks for the link!

  5. Erica says:

I love that Nelson Mandela Quote. It was my mantra last year as a applied to law school. Thought of you last night with the Broncos win (Bears fan and don’t know many Broncos fans), hope you enjoyed the game!

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.
