Midi skirts are all the rage right now.  I like the pencil skirt styles, but they’re not right for every body type. A-line style skirts are more forgiving for more figures, and a hot trend right now.

I love the Topshop skirt above; the soft blue color is sublime.  This grey Astraet skirt has a really interesting shape.  Want to reach for the stars?  This Tibi faux-wrap skirt is the bomb.

Petite? This Nic + Zoe Long Engagement skirt is a cute option.  Plus-size?  I like this geometric print a-line skirt from Lane Bryant.

A Hint of Metallic.  Silver foil pumps have become my new favorite shoe choice. (These rose gold INC pumps also caught my eye.)  They bring such pop to an outfit.  So if you’re looking for a semi-casual work look for a creative office, this is it.

The cowl sweater struck me as a nice contrast in its deep graphite color.  You could also give them a little deep shoulder action in this WHBM off-the-shoulder look.

How chic is this navy bag with a calf-hair accent?  The tassel is great, too.  I also love this MK Selby satchel with peaked corners.  Need something under-$100?  This navy tote from Austin Reed has a simple look.

For the rest of the pieces, I added the simple hoops.  (I also like these Minkoff micro-pave triangle hoops.)  I also love the look of this watch; it has chic rose gold accents on the face.

Bring on the Wine. Burgundy and pale blue just felt like the perfect combination.  It mixes the rich wine shades of winter with an icy blue.  Want a sweater instead?  I like this Hayden wrap-effect sweater in cashmere.

To pull the look together, I chose a garnet earring.  I would wear my hair up in a twist to show them off.

For the rest of the accessories, I though a round-toe pump or ankle boot might shorten the leg line.  A tall, high-heel boot lengthens the leg and doesn’t require a pair of tights.  If you want to wear a pointed toe pump, I would recommend a tortoise or snakeskin pump.

How lovely is this satchel?  Nothing but good bags today.  If you’re looking for something under-$75, this Jessica Simpson Sienna bag is a relaxed crossbody and this Rosetti Ellie satchel is very similar to the bag above at an affordable price.

Belle, do you wear nude stockings with the silver pumps? I know you have recommended nude micro-fishnets in the past, which I like. Are traditional plain nude stockings pretty uncool still?

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Mondays: March 18, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for […]
