People requested more pictures of my dog, Avery, you can find them on Instagram.  My sweet puppy is getting so big.

***

1) My good friends at M.M. Lafleur are blowing up.  Their Tory dress made news for having a 900-person wait list.  Personally, I still love the Akiko (now in eggplant).

2) A burgundy clutch is on my wish list for fall.  This spicy McQueen clutch is the dream, but this $36 ASOS clutch is equally chic.

3) Dava Newman’s first job was selling shoes in a department store.  Now, she’s second in charge at NASA. #successstory

4) You know I love to cruise the ASOS new arrivals.  This week, this oversize aviator jacket, this basic striped sweatshirt, and this sleek $14 teal midi dress.

5) Thrillist discusses why this is the ‘golden age’ of air travel, and why we need to stop whining about it.

6) These Sole Society Jenine pumps add a little femininity to your work attire.  I also love these high-heel, cognac ankle booties.

7) From the Bible to our modern culture, Broadly covers the history of female anger.

8) I am always losing earrings, so I need some cheapies for date night.  I picked up these modern silver-tone drops and these dangly pink ones for $5 a pair.

9) The Atlantic discusses how the NYT and other publications want to shakeup the college ratings game.  Lookout, U.S. News, they’re coming for you.

10) This cherry-printed makeup bag is adorable. It’s just cute enough without being too cute.

11) Pregnant? District of Chic has a retrospective of her favorite pregnancy outfits.  One of my friends is pregnant, and loves this Isabella Oliver dress.

Eye Candy. It’s not my usual style, but I’m crazy about this suede, fringed skirt in a deep cranberry.

Although the Avery pictures always make my day!

  5. Alison says:

I’m all for updating the ranking systems for colleges, but definitely don’t trust THIS administration to do it. Their recent “scorecard” completely left out three colleges, including my alma mater, because they don’t take federal money (grants/scholarships/loans/etc) and then lied and said it was because these institutions are “primarily certificate granting institutions.” (https://goo.gl/gGKu6U) Pretty sure my husband and I spent $250K on real Bachelor’s Degrees. #thanksobama.

    • Clara says:

      From the article you referenced:
Denise Horn, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Department of Education, responded in an e-mail:

“With the College Scorecard, the Department is committed to doing what the president asked us to do: provide information to families and consumers to help them make a college choice that’s smart for them. As of now, institutions that do not participate in Title IV federal financial aid are not included on the site because they are not required to send us data. The Department is listening closely to concerns from users and other stakeholders and will work to address those concerns in future updates to the tool.”

I’m not seeing a lie and I don’t know how you expect the Dept of Ed to provide information about a school that doesn’t submit information to the department?

      • Alison says:

        If you read further down:

“Hillsdale College released a statement Monday, concerned that when their campus student newspaper asked why the college was not included in the Scorecard they were told it was because “‘the plurality of degrees it awards are certificates, not two-year or four-year degrees, it was not included on the Scorecard at launch.’ This statement is false. … Contrary to the Department of Education’s spokeswoman, Hillsdale issues only four-year undergraduate degrees as well as master’s degrees, and does not issue certificates of any kind for academic credit.”

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The Mondays: March 18, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for […]
