I’m easing back into the blog this week.  I have some good post ideas for next week; I just need to get to the weekend so I can carve out some time to work.  Thanks for your patience, and all your great post suggestions.

1) This Fast Company video discusses how to take your public speaking skills to the next level.

2) Need a bag that qualifies as a “carry all”?  This black tote from Neiman Marcus is basically bottomless, and just $71.

3) New Republic talks about how to break up the NCAA cartel and fix the problems with college sports.  And why aren’t more women reaching the top of college sports?

4) The Whisper Ruth dress from French Connection is the ideal short-sleeve pencil dress.  And don’t miss this jacquard dress with a 3/4-sleeve and a tulip skirt.

5) Why we say ‘car accident,’ and why we should stop.

6) Looking for a high-heeled boot with a stable, chunky heel?  These Alfani boots are phenomenal.  Also in wide calf.

7) 11 Things Smart People Won’t Say.

8) This 525 America cable sweater is the perfect casual fall sweater.  It’s also $80.

9) Are you a grammar girl? BBC covers the mysterious origins of punctuation marks.

10) These ASOS heels mix in the feel of a bootie, but with sex appeal.  And if you need shoes for an evening event, I love these embellished champagne sandals.

11) The incredibly beautiful Hotel Okura is about to be demolished.  This Digg video shows why that’s a terrible shame.

Eye Candy. This Stella McCartney ‘Tami’ boiled wool jacket is sculpture.

  1. The jacket at the end screams Hillary Clinton to me and I love it!!!!

  2. Jenna says:

As a lawyer who defends a lot of car accident cases, I know exactly why we say ‘car accident’ 🙂

    • M says:

Funnily enough, from an EMS standpoint, my area recently switched from MVA (motor vehicle accident) to MVC (motor vehicle crash/collision)! It’s so funny how it all comes down to your line of work

  3. Anna says:

Arg, I say “no problem” all the time.

    • Niki says:

Me too. Eh. I have never encountered anyone who interpreted it to mean that I thought their issue was a problem in the first place. It’s a common phrase no one analyzes at that depth IMO.

      • Angie says:

Yep, I had the same issue with that article. Asked my FB friends if they too thought the article was being too literal…. not a single person took the same issue with “no problem.”

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
