Belle’s August Beauty Buys

1. Simple Micellar Facial Cleaning Wipes ($7). The marketing department at Simple sent me these wipes to try.  As you know, I’m pretty loyal to my Say Yes to Grapefruit makeup removing wipes.  But I think I like these ones better. (Heresy?)

The wipes are fairly gentle, but they seem to remove most of my makeup.  The cloths aren’t as large as the Yes to cloths, but they are strong enough to get the job done.  (I hate a flimsy wipe.)  In addition to makeup removal, I like to use them in the morning to remove oil from my face.

2. Yes to Tomatoes Charcoal Cleanser ($9). Having acne as an adult sucks.  So when the folks at Yes to offered me the chance to try their new charcoal cleanser, I jumped on it.  Charcoal is proven to fight acne and keep skin clear by removing excess oil.

This cleanser does a great job, but it is just a tad drying on my sensitive skin.  Additionally, I’m not crazy about the little plastic beads in the cleanser.  If neither of those thing is a concern for you, I think this is one of the best drugstore cleansers I have ever used.

3. Yes to Grapefruit Brightening Sheet Mask ($14 for 5). Sheet masks are all the rage right now.  Some of them are really pricey, but these masks from Yes to give you pore refining, brightening, and hydration for $3 per mask.  My favorite masks are from Dr. Jart, but these are an excellent drugstore alternative.  They leave the skin feeling revitalized.  My face definitely looked a lot brighter post-mask.

4. S.W. Basics Exfoliant and Toner ($24 and $22). Want all natural beauty products?  These S.W. Basics products are as natural and simple as they come.  The Exfoliant is made with coarsely ground almond and oat flour and salt.  That’s it.  The Toner has water, cider vinegar, witch hazel and sandalwood.

I bought samples of these products earlier this year, and I was glad to find them at Target.  I love the exfoliant; I just add a bit to my cleanser.  And the toner is great for when you need a light astringent.

5. Burt’s Bees Mama Bee Belly Butter ($13). My skin has been really dry this summer.  Shockingly dry.  I was desperate for something to fix my ankles, elbows, and heels.  A friend who recently had a baby recommended this Belly Butter.  It’s mean to help prevent stretch marks, but the rich shea butter formula is too good not too share.  My skin returned to its usual softness within a week.

6. Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue ($3)Bloggers rave about Baby Lips products.  I had never tried them until I spotted this Dr. Rescue lip treatment.  With a hint of color and a touch of eucalyptus, the product gives you a bit of color with a lot of softness.  It’s a drugstore alternative to Fresh’s Lip Treatment.

Disclosure: I never take money for posts.  After I wrote about Simple and Yes to products, they offered to send me samples from their new product line.  All opinions about those products are my own.

Thank you for letting us know about the plastic microbeads–I’ve been thinking about trying Yes to products but I definitely want to avoid those microbeads for the environment and for my own health. I hope they’ll consider removing them!

Ditto on the microbeads but I do love the Yes to wipes!

Belle, I appreciate how straightforward and professional you are about disclosures. One of the many reasons I trust and respect your reviews.

I love your beauty posts! Thanks for your honest opinions, I’ve never heard of SW Basics and hope to try the brand soon.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
