1) There are so many TED talks these days that it’s tough to pick out the best ones.  Business Insider has 12 videos on career advancement that are worth a look.

2) This ASOS zip-top city bag is a fantastic professional satchel for under-$50.  It comes in four lovely colors.

3) Why you should never ask a pregnant woman if she’s going back to work.

4) I am obsessed with this casual black anorak from Anthropologie (it’s so cool).  Land’s End also makes a great option for $59 (also in plus and petite).

5) Rolling Stone introduces you to a man who flies around the world for free gaming the frequent flier system.

6) Meghan at Wit & Whimsy talks about her favorite lip colors.  This Lipstick Queen lip pencil in Nymph looks so good I have to try it.

7) Quartz thinks we’re doing our e-mail introductions wrong.  They actually dissect e-mails to illuminate common mistakes.

8) Banana Republic has 40%-off your purchase with code BRINSTANT.  I picked up this light, watermelon-colored sweater and these drapey, olive cargo pants.

 9) Looking for a summer trip?  Atlas Obscura tracks literature’s greatest road trips.

10) Oh, David Yurman, you never disappoint.

  1. Mikey says:

Thanks for the frequent flying article, Belle. What an interesting read!

  2. Maker says:

You always link to such interesting articles! Thanks for the grist. And as for #3 above, I’m a lawyer pregnant with my second kiddo and I always answer that question (and the related “are you going back full time?”) with “Yes, and my husband is too.”

  3. Meghan says:

I had no doubt I would love the Lipstick Queen brand knowing it was one of your favorites!! The lip pencils are so good and I think you’d love that color. Thanks for thinking of me!!! xx

  4. Dina says:

FYI I tried on the anorak in olive green and was not impressed. The cinching at the waist structures it oddly and it wears more clunky tourist than casual cool.

  5. Shelley says:

I went to purchase a few things from Banana Republic in Canada because we also have 40% with a code. But of course you don’t get the discount if you choose BR picks- and almost everything nice is a BR pick. Even the two things you bought are BR picks- did you still get the discount??
I found two awesome tops I really wanted and went to pay and realized I couldn’t get the discount because if this. Frustrating!!

  6. About that going back to work question, I am hunting down with my partner, daycares for Baby Bun because HE is going back to work.

First question: So, because you (mama) are going back to work..

Me: *interrupts*.. actually HE is going back to work I am already working.

    .. and every time I call, I say: I work until 5 p.m. I can’t meet until 6 p.m. , I get the strangest pauses on the line.

I don’t get offended, I just laugh and correct them. Still, the writer has a point.

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.

Three Outfits I’ll Wear All Spring

When I started this blog, influencers still re-wore clothes. There were no haul videos filled with the latest from Shein before it winds up in a beach in Ghana poisoning the planet. There were no sponsored campaigns delivering fresh wardrobes each month. The content machine doesn’t like reruns.

The Find: Like a McCall’s Pattern

When I was young, my Mother used to bring me along when she would go shopping for fabric. As a result, I spent a lot of time, killing time, flipping through pattern books. So when I spotted this dress, I was instantly transported to the pattern table at a Jo-Ann Fabrics.
