2) These Calvin Klein Gayle Pumps are $99, come in nine colors, have an ideal 3″ heel, and are available in sizes 5 thru a 11…need I say more.

4) Sick of fighting mid-day makeup melt to, worse, foundation-crushing humidity?  Try CoverGirl’s Outlast all-day primer.  (It’s also good for sensitive skin.)

5) Meet the man who helps Hollywood stay sober.

6) This open-back midi dress from Storee might be the most perfect summer dress ever, and it’s just $66.

7) Coloring books are catching on with adults.  And maybe it’s just me, but coloring sounds like it would be oddly relaxing.

8) This printed maxi shirtdress from Vince is to die for, to.die.for.  Tonal purple?  Perfection.

  1. Jenn S. says:

Coloring books are definitely relaxing! Mandalas are really nice to color, too

  2. Abbey says:

How are you supposed to wear a bra with dresses like #6? I see so many clothes like this, but I have no idea how to wear them.

    • Anna says:

Backless bras or braless. I prefer the kind with sticky panels on the side but have also tried the kind with sticky cups (NuBra) and they work well too. They can get a little sweaty since silicone doesn’t breathe, but I actually found them to be more comfortable than traditional strapless bras.

      • Abbey says:

Do backless bras provide any kind of support? I can’t go braless–too big on top.

        • Helena says:

No. Not if you’re a C cup or more.

        • Anna says:

I’m a 34C and they provide enough for me. Not enough to run laps, but they keep the girls together and sufficiently at attention. I prefer them to strapless bras which I’m constantly pulling up or that pull down on my breasts. If your concerns are more shape and coverage, they’re fine, especially if the dress is a bit on the tighter side. If you need significant lift, probably not.

    • Belle says:

Another reader wrote me about the Maidenform Breakthrough she wore to her wedding, that might be worth a look if you’re bustier. I just wear a Nubra.

  3. Mary says:

I have recently passed over coloring books in favor of Zentangles, but they are both calming and I fully support the concept of adult coloring books.

Thanks for sharing the article on John Paul Crimi (#5). Loved it.

  4. Niki says:

I wanted to love coloring as a relaxation technique, but all I could do was think about how I had colored outside of a line or how the colors weren’t symmetrical or how I had picked an ugly color . . . basically the opposite of relaxing!!!

  5. Nellie says:

The lady who does my bikini waxes thought I seemed tense and encouraged me to get crayons and coloring books to relax. Then did observe me at a pretty tense moment!

  6. AttiredAttorney says:

Thanks for the size 11 shoe love!

Saw It On Social: Rooted

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
