1) The Washington Business Journal discusses the “mid-career stall” and how to avoid getting trapped halfway through your career climb.

2) These ASOS lace-up ballet flats are fashion forward perfection.  And these ASOS Prioritise heels mix suede and mesh for a sultry, chic look.

3) In case you haven’t heard, Gmail has created an un-send button to combat sender’s remorse.

4) Looking to give your skin a boost of brightness?  L’Oreal’s True Match Illuminator is one of the greatest drugstore products I’ve ever used.

5) War makes strange bedfellows.  With IS making incursions into Lebanon, many Lebanese citizens (esp. Christians) are depending on Hezbollah to protect them.

6) This sleeveless white shirtdress from Ann Taylor is perfection.

7) The Washington Post covers why every state flag is wrong.  Because why should South Carolina and Mississippi be the only states up for critique?

8) Looking for a relaxed top to wear with white jeans? This layered top from The Limited is the perfect choice.

9) The Battle of the Bubbly: the difference between Cava, Prosecco, and Champagne.

10) I always keep a canvas tote rolled up in my bag to transport work files or use on a trip to the pharmacy.  World Market offers these adorable $10 totes in a feather print or an arrow print.  So cute.

11) What happens when a fashion magazine editor posts Instagram photos that reflect the not-so-pretty side of life?

12) If you’re getting married soon, do me a favor and buy these incredible Kate Spade shoes. Ah-mayz-ing.

Those Kate Spade shoes are to die for – and pretty much what I have been looking for for my wedding. Thanks, Belle!!

  2. Jess says:

Loved the article on the state flags – I was laughing inside. ☺️

  3. Monica says:

Flag design amateur hour! Wow those are mostly terrible, except for California which is awesome, especially in comparison. Not biased at all.

I suffer from ‘if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all” syndrome and love the post about less than perfect moments shared on social media. Could I do it myself? Maybe not as I’m not a big sharer anyway. But especially for people representing their lives as picture perfect it’s a great way to show followers that no ones life is 100% non-stop effervescent happiness.

  4. EM says:

A lame flag is not the same as a flag that is a symbol of intolerance, and at the very least makes people of color feel fearful or alienated. That article was trivializing.

    • H says:

EM, I agree that lame is not the same as intolerant. That said, that article is from ComPost, WaPo’s humor section — Alex Petri is basically making the sarcastic point that there are substantive reasons for why we criticize intolerant flags.

Belle, a headsup — it was a little unclear whether your link above was similarly in jest, since this isn’t about singling states out but how those symbols have singled out groups…

      • Belle says:

Maybe the point wasn’t clear. I think that shows like Daily Show and Last Week prove that a little humor can bring an issue into the consciousness in a way that even days of news coverage can’t. “Confederate Yugoslavia” is catchier than “Have you heard about Mississippi’s flag?”.

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
