1) How Gap fell victim to the new polarized fashion environment, and why brands for middle-class shoppers are on the decline.

2) This cotton lace top from Anthropologie is casual enough to wear with shorts, but you could also wear it under a black or white blazer.  Also, this Corsair Belt is the perfect accessory for summer dresses.

3) So you’ve climbed your way to the middle of the ladder, but how do you develop to confidence to move to the top?

4) Are your feet killing you? Foot Petals is the solution.  I love their Tip-Toes insoles, and their at-home shoe-stretcher (total lifesaver).

5) NYMag interviews the creator of the “You Did Not Eat That” Instagram account that challenges fashion bloggers who pose with decadent food that they’re (probably) not eating.

6) This Kevyn Aucoin ‘Making Faces’ makeup palette provides all the colors and the tutorials you need for special occasion makeup or post-work touch-ups.

7) The New York Times discusses the amount of exercise that may lead to a longer life. (It’s not as much as you think.)

Love the shout-out to your hashtag in the first article!

    • Crystal says:

Beat me to it, Sara! 🙂 I agree. Nice to see Belle’s hashtag gaining traction.

    • Belle says:

Thanks, I’m glad to see it picking up. I hope the new designer understands that the quality is not the same as it was, no matter what the brand tells reporters.

    • LS says:

Me too! I’m so happy to see it catching on.

I wonder what they’re planning next. If I were them, I would send out a survey asking customers what they’re best quality and/or most loved items are. Maybe we should do it for them?

  2. Monica says:

#3 is great and so timely for me, I set my sight on a comfy resting position where I could spend my child-rearing years without having to miss out or bow out basically. The best-laid plans sometimes go awry and now I’m transitioning to a new role, with greater visibility, responsibility and…travel. Oh boy, I didn’t see that coming as a systems engineer for a local company. Great to hear it reiterated that sometimes you just have to believe you can do it, and give it your best.

  3. Jen says:

I bought the shirt mentioned in #2 this weekend and it’s really lovely piece. I paired it with black shorts for a casual party but it would easily go with jeans, black pants, etc.

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
