1) Millennials are having a difficult time finding work.  The Atlantic explores the many reasons why finding a first job is harder than it used to be.

2) This Neiman Marcus Gaby tote comes in four great colors for under-$50.  It’s a great summer shopper.

3) Wealthy shoppers have decided that they don’t want flashy logos covering their designer handbags anymore.  What will Louis Vuitton do?

4) My beloved Harry Josh Blowdryer was featured in Refinery29’s Beauty Innovator Awards.  Check out the rest of the R29 list if you’re looking for new, exciting products.

5) A quirky article about why mathematicians are hoarding discontinued Japanese chalk.

6) Stuart Weitzman is having an amazing sale on Gilt.  These snake-embossed high heel sandals.  And don’t miss these flat Flapper sandals with a hint of fringe (they come in five pretty colors).

7) Lucky Magazine has experienced lay-offs, the departure of their editor-in-chief, morphing into an online shopping guide, and closure may be on the horizon.

8) Want the look of a blowout every day without the work?  This Bombshell Thermal Brush and a heat protecting leave-in conditioner is the solution.

9) Bea Arthur’s Brentwood home is just fantastic.  I mean, a California dream.

10) Looking for casual summer dresses?  This short-sleeve, printed Karen Kane is perfect.

11) Does it seem like every blogger you follow is on permanent vacation?  Travel brands are their new favorite sponsors.

12) Because it’s been a long week (and it’s only Wednesday), let’s ogle this gorgeous, wine-colored Roland Mouret gown and this even more spectacular embellished Gucci gown and dream.

    Belle,

Last December I ordered a Harry Josh blowdryer based on a recommendation from your blog and I love it! That said, I have done a bit of research on the dryer given the cost and the fact that most of my friends and family couldn’t fathom spending $300 on a dryer. Have you come across the Sedu Revolution 4000i before? It appears to be from the same maker of the Harry Josh, Velecta-Paramount, in France and is sold more widely (with easier to find discounts) at places like Bed, Bath and Amazon. Anyway just wondering if you know if they happen to be the same dryer or not. Thanks!

  2. LS says:

I also bought the Harry Josh blowdryer. I LOVED it at first, but after a few months my hair isn’t looking nearly as good. It’s not as shiny and it just looks dry rather than “done.” Any ideas? I have been using It’s a 10 as a thermal protectant the whole time.

I wanted to share that I currently own and use a bluDry blow dryer: https://bludrytools.com/the-line/ I was interested in a professional quality blow dryer within my a $100 budget. I purchased this product in December 2014 for 69.95 at PR Partners Metro Center in D.C. (it retails for $79). I have very thick wavy frizzy hair and this blowdryer has cut my styling time in half. My hair is smooth and shiny and so far I have been very pleased with this purchase.

Re: #3, I’m certainly not a wealthy shopper but I love a gorgeous no-name bag

    • Belle says:

Me too. As my father once said, “If I don’t advertise for Jesus on my clothes, why would I advertise for Tommy Hilfiger.” I think labels look tacky, always have. If someone offered me an LV signature bag, I’d politely decline.

  5. Monica says:

I wonder how many wealthy shoppers would be perfectly happy to continue flaunting their wealth in the form of logo bags if the market wasn’t flooded with knock-offs. The article hints at the less famous brands controlling their availability but it’s also about what brands become targets for counterfeiters.

There isn’t any point to buying a bag for thousands of dollars if everyone is always wondering if yours is real.

  6. KM says:

Belle, I’m getting a lot of auto-start video ads on your site the last couple of days. I check your website at work, so this is very inconvenient! Thanks for anything you can do to stop this.

    • Belle says:

Also, I’m terminating my affiliation with one of the companies in September (contract ending), so there will be fewer ads in the fall. (Yay!)

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.

The Find: Like a McCall’s Pattern

When I was young, my Mother used to bring me along when she would go shopping for fabric. As a result, I spent a lot of time, killing time, flipping through pattern books. So when I spotted this dress, I was instantly transported to the pattern table at a Jo-Ann Fabrics.
