During the winter, I stick to either dark purple polish (NARS Tokaido Express) or classic red (OPI Red).  But when summer rolls around, it is time for color.  I tend to keep to the pinks, reds, corals, and purples (I’m not terribly adventurous), but I’ve been trying a few new combinations that I wanted to share.

Pale Pink and Raspberry is a safe choice.  It’s classic, yet fun.  And if you work in a conservative workplace, it’s pretty without being too much.  Rose Gold and sparkly Burgundy is a slightly more adventurous choice. If you’re looking for a regular gold polish, try this Essie As Good as Gold polish.

If you’re looking for a pairing that’s a bit bolder, red and coral is the way to go.  These OPI shades are wonderful.  If you’re looking for a polish that bridges the gap between coral and red, try Essie Geranium.

When I painted my nails last weekend, I decided to try something different by mixing this JinSoon dark teal polish with a shade that mixes shades of charcoal and pewter.  It was a cool look.  Modern, but sophisticated.  I also like the idea of slate blue with pale grey.

Nude and navy is another sleek option.  Ciate’s Cream Tea shade has just enough color to it that it won’t wash you out.  This combination would also be pretty with Essie Merino Cool, a rich greige.

Lastly, I love shades of purple together.  These ashy violets will keep your fingers and toes happy.  But if you want to indulge in the summer’s pale purple polish trend, my favorite hue is RGB’s Lavender polish.

What are your favorite polish colors for summer?  I’m always looking for a new hue.  Because my Instagram followers tell me that you can never have enough polish.

This is a post after my own heart. I love almost all of these combinations (I have a personal thing with painting my toes any color that could remotely resemble fungus so no blue/green colors on toes for me). Just last night I paired hot pink on my toes with an orange hued pink on my fingers (Essie Peach Daquiri). I am definitely going to have to try the pale pink/raspberry, rose gold/burgundy, and I love the purple Butter London shades for my fingers!

Forgot to add, I love Essie Tuck it in Your Tux as a neutral or to use for layering. It requires three thin coats, but I use it a lot.

Completely agree with your instagram followers, there is never enough polish!

    Right now, I am loving:

Bright, hot corals: Essie Geranium, as you mentioned, is a pretty color. I also love Rescue Beauty Lounge’s Gondoliere.

Pale, clean pinks: Chanel Beige Rose, Dior Lady.
