Max Factor 2000 Calorie Mascara ($11)

This isn’t so much a ‘beauty product guinea pig’ post as it is a re-affirmation of something I already knew: 2000 Calorie is the greatest mascara ever.

I dabbled with Aucoin.  Loved and then loathed ‘Better Than Sex’ mascara.  I tried all the Revlons, Cover Girls, Maybellines, and Rimmels I could stand.  And here I am, back at the beginning wondering why I ever left.

Yes, it’s sad that Max Factor can only be found on Amazon now.  But with excellent volumizing and lengthening, no clumping, and only mild wear-off, it’s the most consistent mascara I’ve found.  Honey, I’m home.

Maybe making a trip to London, it’s for sale here everywhere.

I’ve heard that the Guerlain Cils D’enfer is very good, but a bit pricey.

A dutch consumer’s programme recently tested mascara together with renowned cosmetic dermatologist Jetske Ultee and they found that most mascaras come from the same factory and are almost identical in formulation. this was their winner: Maybelline – The Colossal Go Extreme Leather Black Volum’ Express

If you’re looking to try yet another drugstore mascara, I highly recommend Physicians Formula Sexy Booster Cat Eye Collection Mascara in Ultra Black. The packaging is plain ridiculous (it has: 1) fake red lace; 2) swirlies covered in red velour flocking; 3) a black satin bow; and 4) a cheesy silver high-heel charm), but it’s awesome mascara!

I had it in my hand, but due to the ridiculousness your describing, I just couldn’t buy it. It also said it was scented (??) so I was afraid of eye irritation. I generally like Physician’s Formula products though, so maybe I’ll give it a shot 🙂

Couldn’t agree more. I dabbled with Butterfly Effects, which is the closest second I have found but alas I return to MF 2000 again!

Belle, I’ve followed your blog for years, so I’ve seen the many times that you’ve raved about this mascara. This post – combined with my unfortunate current flaking and raccoon-eye situation – finally inspired me to buy. I have to say, I’m extremely impressed. Consider me converted. Thanks for the recommendation!

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
