A black, sheer blouse is a great piece for any wardrobe.  You can dress it up or down.  The easiest thing is to pair it with other black separates.  You can also wear grey, white, or navy.  But I wanted to do something a bit different with this blouse.

Business Casual.  Blush and black is a wonderful color combination.  I love the mix of sleek and soft.  The sheerness of the blouse mixed with the soft blush hue makes a lovely spring outfit.

These Chloe trousers are significantly out of my price range.  Luckily, Pendleton has a similar pair for under-$50.  Looking for a skirt?  Talbots offers a shell pink pencil.

I will do almost anything to create the optical illusion of longer legs.  The easiest trick is a pointed-toe shoe in the same color as your trousers.  These blush pumps from Halogen are perfect for that.

A black bag would be a little heavier than I am looking for, so I thought this crinkled bag was a nice substitute.  You could also go with a simple grey bag, like this Demman satchel from Aldo.

For the hair, I would wear it down.  If you want to do half-up, I absolutely love this $12 black enamel clip.  For the makeup, keep it simple, but load up on the mascara.

Creative Casual.  I usually hate the phrase “creative casual.”  It’s one of those invitation dress codes that makes no sense and leaves too much room for interpretation.  In this case, I mean relaxed attire for women in creative fields (PR, marketing, etc.).

This bright, watercolor print is a bold choice.  This INC skirt is lovely with shades of black and blush.  If you want something basic, this black and white floral is nice.

I added a simple black pump with a bit of drama in the deep vamp.  The shoe also comes in a cool lizard-embossed print.  To complete the outfit, I added a pearl earring and a simple satchel.  If you’re looking for an inexpensive black bag, try this $55 Aldo Halifax satchel.

For the hair, I would try an elastic headband updo.  For the makeup, I would go with a neutral eye and cheek and add a pink lip, like Lipstick Queen Frog Prince.

The Mondays: July 22, 2024

The Crowdstrike/Microsoft Meltdown forced me to take a few days off this weekend. No laptop. No billable hours. So we packed Sloane up for a visit to a local llama farm, stopped by the pool, went for coffee, etc. Few things are as funny as watching a 23-month old feed carrots to a ravenous rescue […]
