Hi Belle,
I’m a few years into my 30s now and thinking I should do something more for my daily skincare routine than facewash in the shower and SPF moisturizer. Can you recommend a daily (face) routine? I’m looking for anti-aging recommendations.
Thanks! Kate
If you want to start an anti-aging routine, it starts on the inside. Getting enough sleep to stimulate collagen production, exercising, eating right, etc. are more important than anything you put on your face.
I’ve revamped my skincare routine a bit since the New Year. I wanted to cut down on the total number of products that I was using.
In the morning, I use this Jane Iredale ‘Pommisst’ to give my skin an antioxidant boost. It’s light and seems to give my skin a little pick me up. It’s perfect for daytime use.
At night, you want something a bit more intense. Hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, AHA, and retinol are all good choices. I use iS Clinical Active Serum. It has a powerful mix of AHA and botanicals. Another great option is Paula’s Choice C15 Booster.
Looking for drugstore-priced options? Boots No. 7 is a great brand. Their Protect and Perfect line is loaded with good things.

I’m not quite 30 yet, but I’ve already had two precancerous spots on my face removed. So a skin care change I made is using a mineral based sunscreen rather than a spf moisturizer that I probably wasn’t using enough of to get adequate protection. The sunscreen itself does provide some moisture and I moisturizer at night so I don’t use another moisturizer in the a.m. I use CeraVe invisible zinc sunscreen which isn’t crazy expensive, can be foubd at the drug store and my dermatologist gave it a thumbs up
Paula’s choice. I wrote a whole post about how that brand has changed my skin life and now my acne is gone.
Her C15 booster is killer.
I’ve been using the Boots No. 7 Protect and Perfect line since December. I am generally very happy with it (especially the serum) but have noticed that it increases the oily look/feel of my combo-sensitive skin resulting in breakouts.
Don’t forget an eye cream! And whatever you put on your face, also goes on your neck and the top of your chest. Otherwise there may be an upsetting young/old disparity in visible skin. And SPF!
Belle, I am curious. Any particular reason none of the Ole Henriksen products you have blogged about in the past are no longer in your routine?
Most of the red tea products are no longer available, and they changed the formula of the truth serum. It forms a film on my skin now. I still like their facial oil but, like I said, I’m trying to use fewer product.
