Two years ago, I decided that I wanted to leave my job to go back to school.  During the previous six months, I went back and forth about the decision like a pendulum.  It is one of the best decisions I have ever made.  It hasn’t always been easy, but I don’t regret it for a moment.

1) Hillary is in for 2016.  Elle Magazine asks whether America is less sexist than it was in 2008, and how that could impact her race.  This reminded me of a great Saturday Night Live sketch about sexism in politics featuring Amy Poehler and Tina Fey.

2) I love this eggplant Eliza J shift dress on sale at 6pm.com.  It’s a great dress for four-season wear.  The brand also offers a similar dress in plus-size in a beautiful green hue.

3) Planning summer trips?  Refinery29 has a list of six travel apps to help you navigate any city.

4) I love this modern, dot-print skirt from French Connection.  This fuller, eyelet skirt also caught my eye.  I’m so glad the weather is warming up.  I’m so tired of wearing jeans.  Bring on the skirts and dresses!

5) A D.C. architecture firm created their dream designs for the capital city setting aside building restrictions and security concerns.

6) Henri Bendel has a keychain that doubles as a solar-powered cell phone charger.  I like the Ban.Do charger I carry.

7) Gary Trudeau has an interesting piece on freedom of speech, Charlie Hebdo, and the ethics of “punching down.”  It’s an interesting counterpoint to many of the freedom of speech above all pieces that ran after the attack.

8) Coordinated outfits are on-trend.  I prefer these to rompers and jumpsuits, but I still wouldn’t spend much money on one.  Luckily, ASOS has some lovely options. I’m loving this one with pom-trim, and this one in white, floral lace.

  1. Meg says:

I like innovative architecture as much as the next person but the micro-structures imagined around the White House and Capitol are hideous. They look like futuristic Times Squares, a public eyesore for which I am never envious of New York…

  2. Sarah says:

I am SO intrigued by these coordinated outfits. Taylor Swift seems to be responsible for bringing them (back?) into style. I don’t know if I’m bold enough, but I think I like it!

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
