BPGP: The GREATEST Mousse, Ever

Apr 14, 2015

s1506443-main-hero-300For many years, I have been a loyal user of Pantene Volumizing Mousse.  Think Lassie, loyal.  I have given other mousses a whirl, most have disappointed me, but I have never switched.

Until, today.

I bought the Southern Belle Volumizing Mousse on a lark.  I was in Sephora looking for some new products to try, and wondered why I’d never given the Drybar mousse a go.  I’ve been happy with all of my Drybar experiences, so why not try it?

The first time I used it, I noticed two things immediately: 1) My hair seemed more moisturized, and 2) my coif was so voluminous even a Texas pageant girl would have been impressed.  But I’ve been tricked before, so I didn’t want to give the new mousse all of the credit.

Ten uses later, I can say with certainty, it’s the mousse.

Since using the product, I’ve also noticed an increase in flexibility, and better hold.  And unlike many other mousses that I’ve tried, this one hasn’t given me acne around my hairline.  Praise be to the hair gods.

Bottom line, I’m switching.  Permanently.  This newly volumized hair and I will not be parted.  However, if you cannot bring yourself to spend $26 on mousse, the Pantene is still my favorite drugstore brand.

Thanks for the great post!! Do you have a volumizing mousse you recommend for colored hair?

  2. A.J. says:

ok so maybe dumb question, but do you use this mousse on damp hair? I ask because that’s the only way I’ve ever used mousse, but something I read recently made me question my theory of mousse usage. up is down/down is up/etc.

  3. Lyra says:

I second A.J.’s question – all I can think of is mousse and crunchy curls. Do you just put the mousse on your damp roots?

  4. Cait says:

I also LOVE this mousse! I have wavy hair that my most recent hairdresser called fine but “thick” because there is so much of it (whatever that means). Hands down worth the $26 IMO.

  5. Julia says:

I agree that its great, but how do you deal with the scent!? It’s so strong that it overpowers my perfume. 🙁

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
