1) Monica Lewinsky has stepped back into the spotlight to stop the “sexual scapegoating” of women and girls.  Her hope is that someday no woman will be labeled as “that girl.”  Good luck to her.

2) This navy-and-black color block sheath from Target packs a lot of style for $29.

3) Tipping when I travel always confounds me–who to tip, what to tip, etc.. Emily Post has a simple table, U.S. News has an in-depth guide.

4) Sephora Shoppers: Sign up for Sephora Flash and get free 2-day shipping and $6 overnight shipping on every order.

5) There is a lot of reading to be done in law school, so I’m intrigued by eyeQ, a speed-reading program.  Hope it works.

6) Club Monaco’s pieces are a nice mix of femininity and modern cool.  These Jamie Bow Pumps are fantastic.  I absolutely adore this Lizeth dress (so gorgeous).  And this Ariana dress is the perfect any-occasion-dress with cap-sleeves and a defined waist.

7) Fast Company provides guidance on how to overcome the insecurities that are holding you back from your goals.

  1. Erin says:

Was (1) supposed to be snarky or genuine? I thought the NYTimes article (plus the essay from Vanity Fair (https://www.vanityfair.com/style/society/2014/06/monica-lewinsky-humiliation-culture) was really quite affecting. I am old enough to remember the whole event and the subsequent decades of backlash, and I’ve never been as moved as reading the linked pieces.

  2. Jenn S. says:

Sephora Flash is so dang exciting. Woo, enabling.

  3. Erica says:

Thanks for sharing #5. I start law school in the fall and was already thinking about checking into speed reading.

    • Belle says:

Also read a book called One L of a Ride. It just helps you think about how you’re going to study, prioritize, etc.

  4. I think the Emily Post simple table is a little low on the generosity. 15% is really not an acceptable tip these days in the US.

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.

The Mondays: March 18, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for […]
