Ask Belle: Dresses with Sleeves, Take 209

Mar 2, 2015

Hi Belle,

I love your blog.  I know that finding dresses with sleeves is difficult, but I am getting so sick of wearing cardigans.  Could you please help me find some suiting-style dresses that have sleeves?  Under $200 would be great, but could go up to $250 for great quality.  Thanks!

Ashley

I love dresses with sleeves.  The readership loves dresses with sleeves.  So even though I’ve done the “dresses with sleeves” post several hundred times (or at least it feels that way), we’re going to do it again.

Club Monaco Kiona Dress ($199) // Antonio Melani Bailey Dress ($159) // Kay Unger Sheath Dress ($175)

Short Sleeves. A short sleeve dress is a great choice for any season.  You can layer over it in the colder months and wear it solo in the spring and summer.  I also like this DvF dress with a sweetheart neckline.  I also like this discounted Elie Tahari dress, it’s a bit over $200, but it is lovely dress in a slate blue.

Looking for something under-$100?  This pink Elie Tahari dress is nice.  I also like this black Calvin Klein dress.  This Evan Piccone cobalt dress with a skinny belt is a nice choice.

Plus-size?  I like this pale pink dress from Ralph Lauren and this graphic print dress from Vince Camuto.  Petite? This floral print dress from Ralph Lauren is nice.  I also like this bright dress from Anne Klein.

Stop Staring Dress ($195) // Classiques Entier Anna Dress ($278) //Skylar Dress ($180)

Long Sleeves. I love long sleeve dresses.  Stop Staring dresses have a real throwback feel.  I also like this peplum dress from that line.  I also like this ruched ivory dress from Velvet, and this red dress from Just Cavalli.

Under-$150?  This black dress from Ava & Aiden has an interesting neckline.  This navy, layered dress from Ralph Lauren is lovely.  I also like this cobalt crepe dress from NYDJ.

Plus-size? This Michael Kors cascade wrap is nice.  I also like this relaxed dress from Athleta.  Petite?  This Nicole Miller Quinn dress is lovely.  I also like this Ann Taylor dress with elbow-length sleeves.

  1. Talbots has some pretty dresses with sleeves as does Garnet Hill — LOVE this: https://www.garnethill.com/silk-shift-dress/womens-fashion/dresses/378804. ModCloth also has several.

  2. Monica says:

Gosh I love that Classiques Entelier dress. Does anyone know anything about that brand? I’ve never heard of it.

    • Belle says:

It’s a Nordstrom brand akin to Lafayette 148. I own one suit and two dresses from there. Good quality, runs a tad large.

  3. thb says:

Monica – I have several pieces of the Classiques Entelier line from casual to work. Really like the quality for the price and I can usually purchase them on sale.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
