1. Factory Tunic Sweater ($65) // 2. Paige Skyline Skinny Jean ($169) // 3. Ray-Ban Aviators ($150) // 4. Michael Kors Madison Watch ($113) // 5. Linda Levine Feather Cuff ($95) // 6. Animal Print Skinny Belt ($20) // 7. ASOS Oversized Stripe Scarf ($38) // 8. Kate Landry Convertible Satchel ($89) // 9. Loeffler Randall Milou Boot ($375)

I adore this look from Chronicles of Frivolity.  It’s classic and impeccably chic.  The oversized scarf is belted as a cape over casual separates for an outfit that’s perfect for traveling, weekend brunch, or casual Friday.

One. A simple black sweater is a perfect piece for three-season wear.  This crewneck sweater is a tunic length to wear with skinny jeans.  Need a v-neck?  This Gap Eversoft Sweater is an excellent choice.

Two. If I had to rank my 2014 purchases, these black Paige jeans would be in the top five.  Without a doubt.  Need something under-$100?  These NYDJ Alina jeans are a great place to start.  Need something in plus-size? The NYDJ brand makes these chic Jade skinny jeans.

Three. We talked about my love of aviators yesterday, so I won’t belabor the point.  However, if you need something more affordable, these Mango sunnies are a good place to start.

Four and Five. An oversized watch and an open cuff make a sparkly statement.  I chose this discounted Michael Kors watch for its modern look and affordable price.  The feather cuff is a little larger than I wanted, but still lovely.  Looking for something smaller?  This pave Michael Kors cuff has a really cool shape.  I also like this delicate Kors bracelet for under-$50.

Six. I’m not crazy about the leopard belt with this outfit, but this Banana Republic belt is a solid choice.  Personally, I would have chosen something like these metal front belt or this studded belt.

Seven. Oh, how I love a giant scarf. A scarf so big that when you wear it, it looks like it might swallow your head.  This cape certainly qualifies, and wearing it wrapped around the shoulders gives you a stylish and modern look.

I like this grey-stripe scarf from ASOS, but I bought this ivory, charcoal, and pewter one for myself.  For $38, I couldn’t say no.  IF you prefer something in a less severe color palette, this purple and navy tartan from Jen is a great choice.  (Just five left!)

Eight. I am blown away by this Kate Landry satchel.  All stop, this is the nicest under-$100 bag I’ve seen this year.  It comes in black, cognac, two shades of metallic, and red.  This spotted hair calf satchel is also a lovely choice.  Need something under-$50?  This faux-leather tote from Forever21 is so sleek.

Nine. I’m not sold on over-the-knee boots.  Mostly because I think they’re not flattering on most figures, and if you have a serious job, are there enough opportunities to wear them to justify the price?  But I like these Loeffler boots that just cover the knee.  These Vince Camuto boots are a more affordable option at $100.  Or just got for a pair of tall boots and pick up these Corso Comos.

It seemed like I couldn’t find good black jeans for a few years, although maybe I was just looking at the wrong brands. Last year I got a pair of black jeans from both Paige and AG that are just awesome, so glad you’ve shared some of your favorite brands with us (yay, for made in the US!)

    Love that scarf too.

I’m obsessed with black jeans as well and this look is great. Could totally see it for a winter plane trip.

Just curious – does anyone else have issues with Paige stretching out? I bought two pairs last summer and have been really disappointed with the looseness in the thigh. I don’t think sizing down would help as the waist is still quite snug. Maybe I’m just the wrong body type…

I have been agonizing over whether to purchase an oversized watch for years, and am now worried that I waited too long and they won’t be in style for much longer. Do you have any opinion on the future of this trend?

I have two of those scarves from ASOS in the lighter cream color. They’re beautiful and WARM, the perfect office blanket! Not sure how it’ll wear, but for that price, I won’t be out much.
