This long sleeve dress from Mango, with a simple shape and neutral color, is the perfect choice for that.  Mango also offers a similar dress in black.  Their Violeta line also offers this chic black dress for women size 10-18.  Banana Republic has a similar black dress in petite sizes.

From Day-to-Night.  For this Two Ways, I wanted to take a simple dress that could be in any woman’s closet and show you how to style it for the office and after-work events.

How much do I love this necklace?  It mixes white and yellow metals with a hint of shimmer, and it’s a great length.  I also love this mixed-media necklace from J.Crew.  And if you’re looking for a long, mixed-metal necklace for less, try this $12 necklace from Worthington.

There are two bags in this set because the satchel is a day bag, and the clutch is for the evening.  This Urban Expressions flap clutch comes in seven colors.  I also like this dark navy envelope clutch with the grey palette.

For the hair, I would style it up in this Mad Men-inspired updo with loads of volume.  For the makeup, you need a deep burgundy lip and a hint of plum blush.

Semi-Formal is one of those odd dress codes that you see occasionally.  It’s not quite cocktail, not business attire.  I usually wear an office-appropriate or business-casual dress and gussy it up with great accessories.  You can also do the opposite; select a cocktail dress and pair it with casual shoes (flats, ankle boots) and a jacket.

I chose glitzy accessories.  I love the foil silver shoes for a blast of metallic.  If you want a less-expensive pair, try this $20 pair from Charlotte Russe.  I also like the look of these Aldo ankle strap pumps.

I like the look of this sparkly collar with the crewneck dress.  Looking for something cheaper?  This hematite and gold collar with a bit of sparkle is incredible, and under-$25.  If you want something more modern, try this sleek half-moon collar.

For the hair, I would look for a loose hairstyle, like this twisted, half-up do.  For the makeup, I’d go for an easy smokey eye using Bare Minerals must-have kit.

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
