I receive a lot of reader e-mails asking what beauty products I use every day. So I thought I would take a moment to type out the current list of favorites.
Shampoo/Conditioner. Pureology Hydrate ($27/$29). Kirkland Signature’s moisture brand is rumored to be exactly the same for less.
Hairspray. Big Sexy Volumizing Hairspray ($18). Very good in the humidity.
Mousse. Pantene Stylers Mousse, Extra Hold ($7).
Face Wash. Bliss Fabulous Foaming Face Wash ($24) + Foreo Luna Mini ($139). This is my squeaky clean and invigorated duo.
Makeup Removing Wipes. Yes to Grapefruit Makeup Removing Wipes ($6). I like the thicker wipes for strength. Their larger size also means that I only need to use one.
Serum. iS Clinical Active Serum ($78). It fights wrinkles and acne. It’s also light enough that you can wear it without needing to moisturize.
Moisturizer. Tammy Fender Intensive Repair Balm ($130). This is my favorite moisturizer ever, but it’s not cheap, so I ration. If you’re looking for something comparable for less, Skincando Miracle Cream is a decent duplicate.
Acne Treatments. Yes to Tomatoes Daily Acne Repair ($12) + Glytone Body Acne Spray ($26).
Body Lotion. Kiehl’s Creme de Corps. I buy the liter size for $75, and it last for about a year. I try to grab it at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.
Foundation. Clinique Age Defense BB Cream ($37). The tube lasts four to six months. It doesn’t have a tone of “BB” benefits, but it has good coverage and isn’t drying.
Concealer. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer ($7). Good coverage, neither too heavy, nor too light.
Blush. Bobbi Brown Blush ($27) in Pale Pink or Plum.
Eyeshadows. Stila eyeshadows ($18) are my favorite. I wear the Oasis shade every day.
Eyeliner. Tom Ford Liquid Eyeliner ($55).
Mascara. Kevyn Aucoin Volume Mascara ($28).
your favorite anti-frizz product?
Frizz isn’t really a problem for me. I use the dryer sheet on the comb trick if I need to tame it.
chi silk infusions ( best bought at an ulta 20% sale or from a salon) and paul mitchell super skinny serum if you’re straightening your hair.
$55 for eyeliner?!?!
Most liquid liners give me a rash, this is one of the few that doesn’t, so I’m willing to pay.
Stila’s liquid liner is also a good option. I find the Ford is blacker and lasts longer. It’s also easier to remove. If someone knows of a drugstore brand, leave it in the comments.
I’ve heard good things about the Milani Infinite liquid liner. Have you tried the Eyeko one? Or does that one give you a rash?
I haven’t tried that one.
I really like Physicians Formula Eye BoostLash Boosting Eyeliner + Serum.
I don’t really think it’s made my eye lashes longer, but it lasts all day and goes on pretty well.

Have you tried the Revlon pen?
I have not.
Do you use a bronzer you recommend? I love contouring with bronzer but ready to switch from my Nars to something else. It’s a tad too orangey.
I just bought the Bahama Mama bronzer by The Balm and really like it. I’ve been searching for an anti-orange bronzer for a while and this one looks really natural.
Thanks for this post! Do you use a sunscreen on your face? I think you mentioned the Suoergoop oil a few months ago and would love to hear what you thought about it: https://www.sephora.com/sun-defying-sunscreen-oil-broad-spectrum-spf-50-P386196
There’s SPF in most of my other products, so I only use Supergoop when I need more coverage in the summer.
Curious — are you not using the Clarisonic anymore?
I use it, I just cut back. It’s much drier out West, so I don’t need such deep cleaning.
I just got my mascara yesterday!!!!!! You are right its awesome.
