Ask Belle: Under-$50 Bags That Wow

Oct 14, 2014

Hi Belle,

I love when you post bags that cost less than $50.  I have something of a purse addiction so I feed it cheap bait, but I’m running out of places to look.  Suggestions on where to shop?

Love your blog! Janey

One word, Janey: Target.  Every time I visit their website, another bag catches my eye.  Here are a few of my favorites.

Mossimo Women’s Tote ($39)

For a chic basic, I love this dark grey bag with the textured front.  It’s a great medium size that provides lots of room without overwhelming you.  I also found this great dome satchel in black or sapphire blue.  They also make a versatile reversible-shopper in cognac or black.  And if you like a bag that mixes casual style with chic structure, do not miss this hobo in cognac or black.

Women’s Work Bag in Burgundy ($39)

Um…this bag is incredible.  The color, the buckle-detail, the chic shape…yes, please, now.

If you prefer something less basic, I also found this emerald-green bag with a twist-lock front and cross body strap.  This sapphire blue bag has a Kate Spade-like look with a stylish but not-too-frilly bow.  This magenta bag with peaked corners has a gorgeous berry color that’ll perk up your casual outfits.  And if you’re looking for a Minkoff-like clutch for $25, look no further.

I would also highly recommend SoleSociety if you’re not looking there already! They run frequent promos, but most bags are around the $50-60 mark.

  2. Oh man, I seriously have Target-addiction. These bags are great picks!

Also H&M has great inexpensive purses. I have two that I use for almost everything, and they have yet to show signs of wear after years of heavy use.

Recently purchased this bag from H&M. Love it!

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
