Asos Woven Shirt with Sheer Sleeves ($42)

I’m looking for a few inexpensive, short sleeve blouses.  I love this blush-colored blouse from Asos, and this bright yellow blouse from House of Fraser.  This floral French Connection blouse is perfect for the waning days of summer.  I also like this $20 Liz Claiborne blouse in a black and white print.

Petite? I like this Merona lace blouse and this LOFT tie-neck blouse.  Plus-size? The Merona lace blouse also comes in plus-size.  I also like this bright, split-neck NYDJ blouse.

Cute find! I’d pair it with dark skinnies rather than what the model is wearing, though.

Thank you for including the Merona lace blouse. I’ve noticed blouses like that everywhere; however, I’m curious – how appropriate are they for a work environment? I tend to think of lace for dressy, even sexy, occasions. Am I just an old fashion prude? Or should tops like that be left to personal, off the clock events?

I’m sure Belle has some better insights here, but as to my personal preference with lace blouses (which I wear to work on occasion) I think it has to do with (1) how sheer it is, the more sheer the less likely I’m going to wear it to work and (2) how you style it with everything else in your outfit. I feel like lace, much like other pieces that may read a little “sexy” is all about how you pair it with conservative/traditional pieces.

      • Rachel C says:

Thanks, Liz. Belle, I would love if you would do a three ways outfit with a lace blouse – work, casual Friday and out with friends.

Funny– I picked up that Merona Blouse in store for around $13.00 as it was in the clearance section. Wonder why Target on line is still charging full price for it?

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
