1. Michael Kors Open Front Jacket ($130) // 2. Madewell Frameset Tank ($70) // 3. J.Crew Stretch Cotton Skirt ($110) // 4. Michael Kors Saffiano Selma Tote ($358) // 5. Ivanka Trump Cleo Pumps ($85) // 6. Michael Kors Chronograph ($250) // 7. VC Stack Bangles ($58) // 8. House of Harlow Locket ($75)

With Love From Kat is one of my favorite style blogs.  I love the easy way she styles pieces for every occasion.  For this look, I wanted to find basic pieces that took the outfit she created and re-built it in a more professional way.  Because while her look is perfectly suited to a creative office, those in professional spaces need a few tweaks to make it perfect for them.

This open-front jacket is a great choice for the office.  You can wear it over separates or dresses, and you can belt it for more structure.  I also found a cream ASOS blazer and a black Target blazer with the same look.  Plus-size ladies should try this PurEnergy jacket.  Petite women should check out this open-front blazer from LOFT.

Kat chose a navy striped tank with narrow straps for her outfit, but I need a little more coverage.  This sleeveless top from Madwell is a great place to start.  I also found this Pastry Picks Top from Modcloth.  I also like this Jones New York blouse that also comes in plus-size.

A white pencil is a great foundation piece for a summer wardrobe.  If you prefer to skip the skirt, this outfit would also look lovely with a pair of white trousers like these curvy cotton pants from Ann Taylor, also in petite.  Or modify it for business casual with a pair of white or colored denim jeans.

The accessories for this outfit are neutral with a flash of metallic.  I love this Michael Kors bag, but if you need something less expensive, try this Olivia + Joy satchel or this lovely Linea triple compartment bag.  As for the jewelry, I love the balance of the oversize watch and the dainty bracelet stack.  And this long locket is to die for, but you could add in a pop of color with this turquoise two-stand Jules Smith necklace.

The t-shirt with the pencil skirt and drapey jacket give you a great balance between relaxed and professional.  Wear this outfit on casual Monday or any day when you need to look professional, but you don’t need to step up your game for a big meeting.

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]

The Find: A Versatile Sweater Jacket

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
