BPGP: Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer, Part II

May 22, 2014

13523712_120605074247Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Treatment Makeup ($8) is my favorite concealer.  I’ve written about it before, but it’s so good, I have to write about it again.  Because it is that awesome.

Here’s how I use the product: I buy one of the tubes in a color one shade lighter than my skin tone to cover my under-eye circles.  That way, the product functions as both concealer and highlighter.  I apply it in a triangle shape underneath the eye, and lightly blend it with my fingers.

Then, I buy a second tube in my skin tone.  I lightly dab this concealer where I need light coverage.  If I need spot coverage, I apply it with my Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage brush.  It’s lighter than my normal concealer, but the concentrated application with some light blending gives me a more natural look.

Mixing the two concealers and checking the blending with my new magnifying mirror gives me even, natural coverage.  It doesn’t feel heavy, even in the heat, and with a good foundation primer, it doesn’t stray after a long day.

This concealer is the best drugstore find that I’ve purchased in years.  It is definitely an under-$10 wonder.

I just bought this on your recommendation and LOVE IT. I usually use expensive concealer–I’ve tried a bunch, and Smashbox’s works fine. But this works even better. It’s lighter, cheaper, and I find the coverage is much smoother. Thanks for the great suggestion!

I bought this in a pinch when my $42 YSL ran out on a work trip. It’s amazing and now I’ve switched for good. I use under my eyes every day and occasionally on my chin when my rosacea acts up. It layers well with foundation, primer, powder, etc. and I always apply with the sponge tip and then blend with my beauty blender. Fantastic product!!!!

Did I read this right — you use 3 concealers? One light Maybelline, one Maybelline that matches your skin color better, and then your “normal concealer” (which you mention at the end of the third paragraph)? How do you determine when/how to apply these three products? Do you use all three every day? Thanks for the help — I’ve been wanting to try the Maybelline for a while but I want to make sure I don’t abandon some other piece of my regimen that is actually still needed 🙂

Tried this on your recommendation from a previous post and hands down one of the best concealers I have ever tried. Thanks for the great find!

I also bought this after your previous post, but I’m not getting the same good results as others. I’m finding it really hard to blend, and especially to get coverage in the corners of my eyes. And it doesn’t go on smoothly at all (seems like it just makes my fine lines look even worse). I’m using primer beforehand. What am I doing wrong?

Also bought this on your recommendation. I had a super hard time picking the color and I’m not even sure I end up with the correct one; however, this is still hands down the best under eye concealer I’ve ever used. I have TERRIBLE under eye circles (genetics) and this is the only product that has ever even remotely made a difference. Thanks so much for the recc!!

  7. Heather says:

But does anyone else find the packaging to be a nightmare? I’m on my third tube where the turn/click mechanism to dispense the product has stopped working. I’ve had to crack the plastic tube open to get to the rest of the product. I love the product, but the container drives me nuts!

    • Belle says:

      That’s weird. I haven’t had that problem.

    • Andrea says:

I’ve had the same problem, but it doesn’t happen until I’ve used the product for a while, so I’m not willing to fight it and I just buy a new one at that point.

    • A says:

Love the product and hate the packaging as well. Both of the tubes i’ve had the turn-click mechanism broke within the first two weeks and the cap has broken on my most recent tube within the first month. I don’t get it- I’m not treating my makeup nor the bag in which it resides roughly. Crap packaging is tragic flaw of this great product.

The Mondays: March 18, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for […]
