Pinterest Mondays: An All Season Color Combination

1. H&M Navy Peplum Top ($39) // 2. Lanvin Fitted Pencil Skirt ($590) // 3. Ivanka Trump Fabianly Pump ($123) // 4. Calvin Klein Saffiano Satchel ($228) // 5. Deborah Lippmann ‘I Fought the Law’ Polish ($19) // 6. Charm & Chain Pyramid Stud ($24)

Like many women, I don’t have the resources to have a summer and winter wardrobe.  Aside from the obvious (sweaters, white dresses, etc.), the majority of my pieces are worn year round.  This outfit found on Riches for Rags, with its combination of emerald and navy, really appealed to me so I recreated it for the spring/summer season.

One. Sadly, when I checked last night this top was sold out.  However, I found an even better looking blouse from Tahari for $66.  If you’re not feeling a peplum top, I would swap in a silk henley or a short sleeve silk top from Joie.

Two. While this Lanvin skirt is gorgeous, you can find the same thing for much less.  Off 5th has a dark green Hugo Boss skirt for just over $100.  Target also has a green pencil skirt for $16 (up to size 18).

Other color combinations for this dark green skirt include ivory, pale grey or light blue.  If you want to choose something bolder, try bright fuchsia.

Three. Leopard for summer is my new obsession.  These shoes are my favorite because they’re not entirely leopard.  For under-$75, I found these Audrey Brooke pumps that pair leopard with black.

Four. A simple black satchel is a must-have.  This Calvin Klein satchel is a great basic at a mid-price.  I also like this Ivanka Trump Saffiano satchel for under-$100.  If black feels a little too heavy for summer, swap it out for a dark brown satchel or cognac satchel.

Five. A lightly spangled navy nail?  Why not?  I could have worn navy nails to work (not on big meeting days, but most others), but if you can’t, this is a job for either OPI Red or Essie Romper Room.

Six. A pyramid stud is a versatile addition to your jewelry box.  It adds a little funk to feminine pieces and pairs well with casual attire.

Bonus:  Want to recreate the original outfit with its slouchy sweatshirt?  Try this Sandro short sleeve sweatshirt or this inexpensive Land’s End sweatshirt that comes in several colors.

  1. So I had tried that h&m one, did not like the fit and texture one bit. Was very disappointed because I really liked how it looked online. Blah. But hello leopard gorgeousness! I have been loving leopard pumps and its variations as well..has become a must go for me when in need :D. Thanks for sharing the other options on the top btw, I am digging the tahari one.

  2. Elle says:

Just ordered the Tahari navy peplum top. Fingers crossed. Hoping to wear it with this jacket (which appears more navy than grey in real life):

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
