10th Commandment: April 1

Apr 1, 2014

No April Fool’s Gag this year.  I’ve already done Uggs and Vera Bradley, so how about something that I would actually wear?

Merona Scalloped Hem Ponte Dress ($28)

How adorable is this dress?  I love the scallop trim, and it’s knee length.  It would be a great spring basic.

Like the scalloped trim?  I also found this Kasper jacket that comes in black and white and aqua and black.  I also found this scallop-trim skirt from Anthropologie and this Chaus top with scalloped lace.

Looking for a dress?  LOFT has some cute ones like this scalloped yoke dress in regular, tall and petite.  I also like this scalloped colorblock shift.

The Kasper jacket comes in plus-sizes, as does this lace Karen Kane top.

  1. Bless you for not partaking in April Fools! I am apparently super gullible. Corporette totally got me this morning, even though it was completely obvious.

  2. Ellen says:

Last year J crew had an amazing scalloped dress. They not have it at J Crew Factory https://factory.jcrew.com/womens-clothing/dresses/shiftdresses/PRDOVR~A3744/A3744.jsp?color_name=bright-poppy

Not sure of the factory one (although I find the quality to be great typically) but the regular J Crew one I have is amazing and doesn’t really wrinkle! It was perfect for my company website photo shoot.

  3. Kellyn says:

I have this and it is an amazing deal–great dress!

    • Sofie M. says:

Is it long enough to wear to work? It looks so short in the picture, but it’s hard to tell without seeing it on.

  4. Taylor says:

This LBD is amazing!!! I have been searching for an updated LBD for awhile and I feel like I just found it 🙂 I love the scallop detailing. Plus, such a great price.

  5. Laura says:

I own this and it’s fantastic! Also, I don’t think the Target desciption notes this, but it has pockets.

  6. Marina says:

I have this dress, and the ponte fabric is fantastic. It feels more expensive than it really is.

  7. V says:

This dress is great. I was so excited to see it on here, as I was thrilled with my purchase I made a few weeks back. I am 5’8 and have worn it to work (professional yet casual environment) with flats and a cardigan and also with to a night time wedding party with a statement necklace and heels. The dress is a good thick solid material.

  8. m says:

Not sure if I’m too late for anyone to see this, but those who are saying it is long enough — where did you get it? Online or in-store? I bought one in the store today and I’m 5’7” and it is a few inches above the knee on me. Wondering if the lower price point relates to inconsistent sizing/cut.

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.

The Range: Spring Blouses for Work (or Zoom)

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.

Too Many Tabs: April 19, 2024

This week, I fell mindlessly into my phone more than I think I ever have. My screen time went from 3.5 hours per day to 5 hours per day. But the increased eye strain did lead to some good finds. Just going to leave this right here.  (I really need to work on “Didn’t make […]
