10th Commandment: March 24

Mar 24, 2014

The problem with a $50-week is that while searching for pieces under-$50, you find a lot of awesome pieces that are $60, $70 and $80.  It’s maddening.  So how about an under-$100 week to finish out the month and let me use all of these items I’ve saved in my bookmarks?

Sole Society Bettie Heels ($79)

Sole Society has some really fabulous shoes and accessories for sale.  The quality is a little better than Zara, comparable to a shoe from Nordstrom’s junior’s department.  I own two pairs, and plan to buy the pair above when the weather warms up a bit.

These cognac sandals are perfect for wearing with summer dresses, they would look amazing with this white eyelet Calvin Klein number.  They also come in black and a warmer taupe color.

If you’re not quite ready for summer sandals, their Olyvia ankle-strap pumps have a medium heel height and come in several lovely colors.  I also like these strappy Jacie heels in the all black color.  And if you like wedges, these open-toe wedges with a wood heel are cute and versatile.

In the mood for flats?  These slingback flats are super cute.  They would look great with a pair of ankle-length trousers.

Thanks for the review of Sole Society. I’ve been eyeing a few pairs of shoes there for a while now and I just couldn’t pull the trigger because I’ve been unsure on quality. Good to know they’re at least as good as Zara (which tends to be pricier).

Thanks for these recommendations. I had not heard of sole society before, but a lot if their stuff looks nice, and the prices seem reasonable.

Be aware some of the sole society shoes tend to run small. I normally wear an 8.5 and bought a 9 in their boots… And really should have gotten a 9.5 if I wanted to wear thicker socks.

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.

The Find: Like a McCall’s Pattern

When I was young, my Mother used to bring me along when she would go shopping for fabric. As a result, I spent a lot of time, killing time, flipping through pattern books. So when I spotted this dress, I was instantly transported to the pattern table at a Jo-Ann Fabrics.
