  1. Question! Am I right in believing that ankle-strap flats make my legs look stubby? (I’m 5’3″) Another question! Any suggestions for how a petite person can pull off the look? Does length of skirt matter?

  2. Michelle says:

I’m 5’1″ and solve this problem by either choosing ankle-strap shoes that are closer to flesh tones or pairing the shoes with mini skirts and shorts that show a lot of leg.

  3. Anna says:

I really want this trend to go away. The shoes are so cute but they’re really unflattering with my muscular calves.

  4. JMW says:

Any advice on how to style these shoes? They are super cute but I can’t envision them with a complete outfit.

    • Belle says:

Red flats look good with black pants/skirts, navy pants/skirts or grey pants/skirts. You can also wear them with a navy stripe dress for casual attire. I like to wear mine with neutral pieces for extra pop.

  5. […] Capitol Hill Style has a series that includes Elected Official (splurge), Hill Staffer (middle), and Paid Intern (budget) options. Love this recent roundup of ankle-strap flats. […]

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
