+ Look for Less

10th Commandment: January 28

solitair pumpJeffrey Campbell Solitair Suede Pumps ($145)

I purchased these Jeffrey Campbell pumps a few weeks ago, and they are so comfortable.  The heel height is a respectable 3″ and the wide ankle strap provides stability.  They also come in pale grey.  And if this isn’t enough height for you, Campbell makes a higher heel that comes in several colors and combinations.

If you like ankle straps but would like to find one under-$100, I found these charming pumps from INC and these Nine West Callen pumps.  Prefer a bit more coverage?  Try a t-strap pump instead.  I like this Adrienne Vittadini pair.

Want some color?  Try these red pumps from Sole Society.

I think she’s referring to the Zara necklace from last week’s post, the one Kate Middleton wore. This one: https://ow.ly/t24P9

I’ve been looking at these shoes but was concerned that the velcro closure would look tacky. How do they look in person?

I’m really careful to line up the edges so you can’t see the actual teeth, but I barely notice it.

Belle- what’s your opinion of ankle strap shoes on shorter women. I’ve stayed away from them as I’m only 5`1 because I’m worried it will visually cut my legs but I always find myself standing in front of a pair when out shopping.

In my opinion this depends on two things: the proportion of your legs and the width of the strap. Thinner straps are probably better for petite women. And the thickness of your calves, really has more to do with it then length of your legs in my opinion.

I always say that if you’re trying a trend you’re not sure of, take a few photos of yourself wearing the item. A photo sometimes exposes issues a mirror might obscure. It’s just a more honest appraisal for you to judge by.

I tried to buy these shoes when you first posted about them, but they were out of my size! According to Shopbop, there’s only 1 pair left in the size above my usual 10. Here’s to hoping they stay put until pay day!

Thank you! I’ve been looking for a professional light grey heel for nine months, and this is the first one that meets my criteria. While. I’d prefer a traditional pump over an ankle strap everything else about the shoe is spot on. Thanks!
