It’s been a bit too warm for winter coats, so I’ve received a few e-mails asking for trench coat recommendations. Of course, a Burberry trench is the heirloom-quality coat to which I aspire, but here are some choices in friendlier price points.

J.Crew Collection Icon Trench ($298)
This is the one I own, and I really like it. The fabric is heavy, the fit is nice and the quality of the buttons and buckles is good. There isn’t a better trench in this price range.
Hill Staffer
London Fog Heritage Trench ($178)
This is a Nordstrom exclusive item. It comes in regular and petite, and it has a detachable liner for added warmth on chilly days. It also comes in black, if stone isn’t your color.

Plus-size: London Fog Twill Trench with Liner ($218) Tall: Gap Classic Trench ($128)
this is great. i’m also curious as to how you style trench coats….i feel like i look like a creeper or very soccer mom when i wear mine.
Hi belle, I have a trench from banana a few seasons back. I recently lost some weight and the coat is too big. Do you think it is possible to get it altered without spending a ton of money?
I think for the amount of money it will cost to alter it, I would buy a new one and sell the old one at Redzz or on eBay.
Hi Belle, I recently just bought a trench coat from Zara and I’m thinking of altering as it is a size too large (I’m quite slender) and the smallest they have is XS. It looks a bit tricky but have you tried altering your trench coats?
I just ordered the Nordstrom’s trench to replace the $50 trench I bought at Target 3 years ago. I can’t wait for it to come!
Single breasted options?
BR has a decent trench that is lined. If you wait for a sale (which they have all the time) you can get one for a great price. That can hold you over until you can save up for the Burberry (which is my plan).
