10th Commandment: November 25

Nov 25, 2013

Since it’s a holiday week, the posting schedule will be somewhat altered.  The morning posts will feature under-$100 items instead of the usual pricing structure.  Tomorrow will feature my favorite beauty finds for November, and the weekly reading will run on Friday as usual.  However, most of the week will be spent answering “Ask Belle” questions in an attempt to empty my inbox.

I will be checking comments and responding when I can, but the Internet connection at my parents house is so bad that I have flashbacks to the days when I heard this noise while logging onto AOL.  (No one under 25 will understand that reference.)  All will be back to normal next week.

Gap Cable Knit Pullover ($28 + 20%-Off code GAPLOVE)

The cable sweater is a fall/winter classic.  This basic Gap sweater is a great place to start since it comes in so many colors, or try this J.Crew Cambridge cable sweater ($88 + 25%-off code WINTER).  Prefer a v-neck?  J.Crew also has you covered.

If you want to jazz up the basic cable sweater a bit, I’d start with this longer, boyfriend-cut sweater also from the Gap ($59).  I like how the knit on this Hinge cable sweater ($78) falls in an asymmetric pattern.  I also found this zig-zag cable sweater from Mango ($45) and this open-knit sweater from Olive + Oak ($55).

Plus-size: Land’s End has the basics covered, and they have this cool marled cable sweater.  Petites: This Old Navy sweater has a nice mix of textures, and this LOFT sweater has a subtle knit and a loose peplum.  Tall: This Liz Claiborne sweater has a modern texture and a soft sable color.

    I’m 22 and sadly I know that sound 🙂

Watch out for the Jcrew cable knit sweaters. I bought one a few weeks back and it shed ridiculously all over the place– we were just sitting there watching pieces of fuzz fly off me every time I so much as twitched. My black pants were absolutely covered in light grey fuzz. It’s now in the back of the car while I muster the guts to take it back to the store (without a receipt/packing slip) to complain.

You can’t see the back of this sweater when looking at it online…but does it bother anyone else when cable knit patterns are not continued onto the back of the sweater? I don’t like the look of the patter just on the front.

I picked up the white sweater in navy at a Gap store today because I happened to be at the mall running an errand when I saw Belle’s post. So I can tell you that the cable knit is not continued on the back. Also, to anyone else considering buying that sweater, get a tall if you have a long torso. I tried it on with mid rise jeans and could still see some of my stomach when I raised my arms more than halfway.

Thank you for including Tall options!!!!!

Any advice on wearing chunky knit sweaters for the well-endowed? I shy away from them because I feel they make me look 2x bigger than I am, but I love their look.

Does anyone own this Gap sweater? I really like it and the price is awesome but it has a lot of bad reviews about being scratching and piling.
