Just one week until the best.holiday.ever: Thanksgiving.
Whether you’re traveling to see family or throwing a “Friendsgiving” for your closest pals, you should make an effort to dress up for the occasion. But what does one wear on a holiday dedicated entirely to eating, drinking and merriment, when over indulgence is on the menu?
A wrap dress. Because unlike a sheath dress or a pair of trousers, a wrap dress provides the one thing that a pumpkin pie addict, like myself, needs most: room for expansion.

Can you wear tights with wrap dresses? Can’t figure out how to pull it off!
I don’t see why not, I do it all the time. You just need to match the tights to either your dress or your boots.
Sweater dress FTW! I know I’m in the minority, but I’m really not a fan of wrap dresses in general – they’re always clingy and jersey is just not very forgiving. They’re not really flattering on me – cinched waist/belted stuff just doesn’t work with my body type.
@Kat, I feel you. I tried *so hard* to find a wrap dress that would work for my body type, but I’ve largely given up for exactly the reasons you described–they are too clingy, unforgiving, and (frequently) low in the bust. (I admit, however, that whenever Belle posts an Instagram photo of herself in a gorgeous wrap dress I spend a few hours trying to replicate the look.) I have found much better success with sweater dresses, or even a (loose) J.Crew pencil skirt and sweater.
Lands End has a wrap dress on sale right now in Plus sizes for $30: https://www.landsend.com/products/womens-plus-size-long-sleeve-faux-wrap-dress/id_245462_57
If the tops of your tights are long enough, pull them up so they’re at the bottom of your bra. I do this and it gives me a cleaner line and an extra layer of warmth.
Pumpkin pie rules!
I’m also a big fan of the Gemma wrap dress from Banana Republic. BR is offering a very fall appropriate cranberry colored version, and I’ve found that the dress holds up well for the price.
